This school was absolutely horrible. My daughter was strangled by another kid, my son was bullied, my daughter's teacher "pulled someone's hair" and was verbally abusive, it almost couldn't be worse. My children hated going to school, and they felt like they were not learning anything. The test scores at the school are low and school/teacher/parent communication was terrible. I was ready to move so that my kids did not have to attend, luckily another school near-by opened up. The new school is a godsend compared to this school. Everything about the Hebron-Harmans needs to be overhauled.

My older son attended the year of the pandemic we were new to the area at the time. My younger son was bullied the school did nothing about it until my son hit back. This bullying issue was so bad the community superintendent got involved. The acting principal is terrible. The principal has no clue what they are doing. 41 staff members were replaced. I feel like the teachers are overwhelmed and my child isn’t learning because so much time is spent on classroom or behavior management. The principal accepts no responsibility for anything. I’m not happy at all. Not to mention my child was left on the bus for 90 minutes and the principal accused him of hiding. I called the transportation department and found out that was not the case. He was sleep and the drivers never checked the bus. No apology or anything. I have to be super careful what I do I don’t want my child to feel like a target at school because I’m not happy.

I Hate this school, When I was in fifth grade I used to get bullied by many students, and I was always alone, Betrayed and always getting picked at, the teachers and counselors we terrible and did nothing on what happened. Kids used to give mean notes on how other kids look, throw my snack on the floor and smush it, and my teacher did nothing, I was always crying. I never been bullied this much in my life since this school, that's what made me move and leave this terrible school.

For the record, my kids love going to this school. They definitely have had some teachers that are better than others, but overall they like it. I as a parent have a lot of concerns with class size, teachers being overwhelmed, RAMPANT out of control children with violent behavior, and not great communication between administration and teachers, and between administration and parents. The curriculum is fine, but like others have said, advanced learners get bored and start disengaging because so much of classroom time is spent on behavior management, and bad habits are formed really quickly. Every classroom is loud, out of control, has kids that hit or throw huge violent tantrums.... the frequency that both my daughters get hit by kids is astonishing. The teachers need help, and the district is clearly in need of more resources. Also, there doesn't seem to be any pool of substitute teachers available - any time a teacher is absent, their class gets split among the other teachers, which is so chaotic and disruptive to everyone, I can't imagine any learning happens that day. I've brought up to administration that my kids don't feel safe there, and they've been able to help with a few specific situations, but overall the problems are just too big. There's no way we could have gone to another school, but if there was an opportunity, we probably would have.

My first grader got bullied all the time, he got punched severally . This got me worried from time to time. The school administrator need to do more on the issue of bullying. I bet some of the kids lack respect for teachers.Homework is a big deal for me. They never assign homework for my kid, and I hardly know what he Is been taught in class. If there is a zero star, i will give this school . They really need to do more to get the school to a good rating in every aspect

My two children have had the benefit of excellent teachers at Hebron Harman Elementary school. The pandemic challenged parents and teachers alike, and the teachers and assistant teachers rose to the challenges. My children's preK, kindergarten, and 2nd-4th grade teachers provided guidance, great instruction, advice, and social and emotional support to my children and myself the last 2 1/2 years. They were readily available by phone and text at any time. They provided tips on how I could support my children's learning, and how I could address theirs and my own emotional needs. They often checked in with us via Class Dojo on weekends to see how we were doing. And, when my 4th grader had to miss the last week of school this year, her teacher contacted her on video via Google Meet to let her say goodbye to her classmates. The principal, vice principal , office staff, cultural arts teachers, counselors, and staff were also highly responsive to our concerns.

This school is terrible. Bullying is a huge issue at this school and teachers/administrators choose to do very little. It is worth spending your own money to send your kid to a private school before you send your kid here. There are some teachers who are great but there are also some that appear to only show up and do the bare minimum for the students.

Bad. Stressful, over-worked, long days. kids who can't keep their hands to them selves & who have little respect for authority, & preform LOW academically. Every day, some kid some where is having a MAJOR MELT-DOWN it seems. Teachers are more like SOCIAL WORKERS & cops for delinquent kids it seems.

There are some amazing people at this school who love the students and go above and beyond. Then you have the administration which involves county, tax dollars, and, parents who care/don’t care. I’m not happy with the school and procedures.

My children attended this school from 2013-2017. Pre K-3rd. All 3 really enjoyed the school and I really enjoyed the teachers. My children were able to grow and learn in a wonderful environment. My only complaints are the large class size and number of classes per grade. The school is overcrowded. With that there are not many after school things and no programs i.e plays, concerts etc. I attended 2 in my 3 years there with 3 kids there. We almost bought a different house based on the reviews from this site, but I am so glad we didnt. This was a great school for my kids and they miss it!

So far my kids have liked the teachers they have, some are very caring. One teacher told my child "don't raise your hand, and give other people a chance". The classes are over packed to the point the kids cant even turn around. The community zoning for this school is so big. The county allows more and more homes to be built with the same small school. The playgrounds are a joke. People who live near the school making trouble. Look on google maps, you will see what I mean. The classes need expansion, the lunchroom is small. so many things need change. We are looking to move soon.

We moved to this neighborhood in August and are currently looking for new housing in a better district. I’m not willing to sacrifice my children’s well-being and education to save money.

My experience at this school has not been the best. The lack of information regarding changes, and updates is ridiculous.I had to reach out to the school several of times to get information about the first day of school and about who my child's teacher is. the communication is horrible.

I would give Hebron - Harman Elementary School 2-stars. There appears to be a systemic problem that exist. In my opinion, Teachers at Hebron - Harman Elementary lower the bar academically, so students below grade level can comprehend the lessons. Unfortunately, this strategy leaves students that are on or above grade level at an extreme disadvantage for learning and prospering. This systemic problem only exacerbates disciplinary issues, because when students are not challenged they exhibit disruptive behaviors. These factors make it extremely hard for children to learn.

My son and nephew attended this school. My son was there for 2 years and my nephew for one. I was very happy with administration and the teachers. Both years my son loved the teachers. They were extremely caring and very involved with the kid's learning. Honestly I was worried because I had seen the rating and one of my neighbors had enrolled his daughter in a private school because he said he did not hear anything positive about the school. But once my son started he fell in love. I like their curriculum and their International Baccalaureate Programme, it is absolutely the best. My nephew attended for a year. He was in the ESL program and what I loved the most was how not only his teacher were very involved with his learning but the kids in his class were always so helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make sure he was comfortable. We had to leave because I am military but if I was to return to Ft Meade, I would definitely try to find a home near the school.
