West Woods School is an amazing elementary school. The teachers care deeply about the kids and the administration is top notch. Recently, the school has undergone some needed repairs to the roof and the HVAC system. The building is older, but also has a lot of space, a nice open courtyard and a great playground. I certainly feel that my children are being taught well, and kept safe. I do have strong concerns about the political establishment, cronyism, extreme agenda and waste in Hamden as a whole and these do have an impact on the school system (and our incredibly high taxes), but West Woods School truly is an wonderful place to learn.

Schools are much more than test scores or numbers, and our experience with two kids from k to 6 showed it was also a very caring and compassionate community. Our kids always looked forward to school and we found that they were well prepared for middle school.

The staff is supportive and encourages the students to succeed. We had been at West Woods from K-2nd grade. The teachers listen to and work with children to provide a challenging environment where your child will learn. Parents are always welcome to get involved and the PTA organizes fantastic activities for everyone.

West Woods school is great. The teachers and the principal give every opportunity to students, encourage them especially I love their math tools in making the kid learn math in every possible way. My son went to kindergarten and now he is in first grade. I really like his class teachers and in general all the teachers are great and friendly. The Principal is a nice, pleasant lady, excellent leader, but one thing I have to say is she is not keen in to Hygienic issues. The kids are sent to recess to play outside and immediately they are sent to lunch with out washing hands. The principal does not enforce the rule that the kids need to wipe or wash their hands. With lot of illness and viruses going on an elementary school kids need to be enforced with hygienic rules and conditions.

While ir is true that the physical facility desperately needs some repairs, the teachers are Excellent. The CMT's speak for themselves. the "open classroom" concept had me worried at first but it actually facilitates necessarily quiet and disciplined classroom areas - I am thoroughly impressed. My daughter is receiving a fantastic education at West Woods Elementary in Hamden CT. Sincerely, West Woods Parents (Speech/Language Pathologist, Mechanical Engineer)

West woods school is an absolute abomination to the education system of America. this so called "school" is the worst thing that I've ever experienced. Between the harassment from teachers towards children with learning disabilities and the lack of order, lack of care, minimal help, and the nasty teachers ,this school is just HORRIBLE. I went through a downward spiral after being traumatized and had my family harassed by teachers because I was struggling due to a learning disability. The schooling self is discussing. Mold on the walls. Filthy dark bathrooms. dusty dirty carpets. All this along with the fact this school has open class rooms is almost to obviously bad for a school to even stress, since it really speaks for itself. This school not only caused myself a ton of hardship, but many other families have agreed with me and shared their story of this horrible place. This school is the last place you want to send your kid. They failed me as a student and never helped me but yelled at me and were awful, all because I had a learning disorder. It's just bad. Please don't put a child through this traumatic unstable environment. HORRIBLE, AND ALL AROUND GROSS AND UNSANITARY.

They can only see a problem not a person. No respect for parents whatsoever. Stay away!!!
