It was a safe school, majority of good teachers. Help was available if you needed it. Decent amount of sports!

From a senior students POV: freshman year was good (covid year) but years following have been a downwards spiral. For the first 3 years of my time at this facility the boys bathrooms had no soap. New ridiculous policies such as the 10 10 rule (may not use the bathroom during the first or last 10 minutes of class) tardy sweeps (random event which all late students are locked out and give detention even on first offence which is served on a Tuesday or Thursday) road block aids which are not only disruptive but insulting. Passive aggressive threats from staff verbally and over announcements. Monthly to weekly fights and skirmishes. Overall increasingly hostile environment, which feels completely different from my own freshman year. While the quality of student is already low / hard to work with, the minorities greatly impact, reduce the capacity for enjoyment of life of the many. Each years bell scheduled differing from the last, seemingly designed sap away from the student as much as possible. For instance, 2023 - 2024 school years 6 minutes between classes, morning bell now starts at 7:14 opposed to 7:15 from previous years. Flex time (a total joke) no longer given choice to the students (mandatory rotation now) vast waste of time AND students are disallowed to use the bathroom during this time. Student parking lot now littered with cones and road block aids for no reason, fences and gates over walkways designed only to restrict movement. A school of almost 2,000 with only 3 bathrooms available per gender. Overall, a sad wrinkly husk of what was once a respectable school. While the undesirable youths entering the school grounds are out of the control of the school, no effort is made to fix issues, only cover up or bandaid.

I wish I could give no stars. Seriously this school has the most people that are the rudest ones. Like if you don’t want to work at the school then don’t.

We're selling our house and moving just to be zoned to a better school. Too many fights, too much drug activity, and academics are a total joke. I subbed at this school just to get a feel for the campus, and there is no way I would ever work for this administration or let my child attend this campus.

Terrible! My child was not challenged. The school is open to parents only for games and band performances. SLHS is below par like all Lake County high schools. Orange and Polk counties offer so much more to students! It is no wonder this school ranks so low nationally.

My son's experience at this school was ultimately terrible and I feel horrible for letting him go here.

Grades are just home value speculations it does not represent the reality of the school

I'd like more people from the 2016-2017 school year to explain what has transpired, this school does have its perks but this new administration favors certain students, punishes others who don't deserve the punishment, and has basically ruined the traditions that made this school fun to attend. Yes, I will complain, yes South Lake does have issues. Starting from the top-down, South Lake has a power struggle where they want to force students to come to school just to attend prom, they want to effectively make our voice unimportant. Other senior classes were allowed to leave early, do something productive in their time, this senior class has easily been the most punished. Unless you are dual enrolled, you are forced to take a bunch of filler classes instead of being able to go home and relax. Hence why skipping occurs, why you have an issue with people trying to leave. Forcing more rules on students and inconviencing them even for events like prom in which you take our money and tell us we will be denied if we miss the day of school prior to prom easily is amongst the worst ploys they could put on against students. Its unfair.

This is truly a great school. Just because another school in town is brand new doesn't automatically make that the best school. Substance matters. South lake has an awesome principal who is friendly and approachable. My child has been in honors and ap classes and has great teachers. Also, i can't say enough about the guidance counselors. They are very approachable by student and/or parent and knowledgeable. They give you plenty of time with a wealth of information. South lake is truly blessed to have these counselors, i hope they remain at the school until both my children graduate. I undrestand south lake may be getting more students next year due to rezoning, i say to those parents do not worry. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Although this school is much older compared to all the other schools in the district, South Lake High is an excellent school with great teachers and staff as well as spirit. For all four years of my high school career, I do not regret going to this school, it's like home and I'm so sad to be graduating soon. The school offers a variety of courses as well as extra curricular activities. The staff shows pride in their students and they always praise us. The teachers not only educate students on course material, they also expand the subject and they help inform students about how the course material affects our world.

Being here for four years, I've had the opportunity of exploring all that South Lake has to offer. Its abundance of extracurricular activities and sports, as well as its rigorous AP and vocational courses are readily available and full of students who share a drive to succeed and become better individuals and community members. Although we may not have the same access to free personalized technology as other schools in the area may have, we've demonstrated our flexibility in excelling academically with or without the use of technology. The teachers and staff here are always willing to go the extra mile in ensuring that students feel safe, are understanding the course materials, and are ready to enter the real world upon graduation. I am proud to be a South Lake eagle, and so were my parents when they attended this school. South Lake is full of booming potential and continues to grow each and every year.

South lake is an excellent school that is unlike any other! We have classes such as a navy jrotc, culinary, health science, and various ap classes. We also have great extra curricular activities such as FFA, FBLA, and first year wrestling program. This is an overall top choice school.

South Lake High School is a wonderful school attend. Every teacher I have had in my high school career here have helped me become a better student, as well as a better person. The band program especially has had an impact on my life. I have learned so much about being a leader in my years in the program. Each and every member of the band I consider close friends; I would even venture to say they are a second family. The teachers here have also been experimenting with personalized learning, which is amazing. It better prepares us students for college. I know that for a fact that I will be ready for college when I graduate thanks to personalized learning.

I rate this school 5 star school because its great to be an eagle. Here at South Lake, the faculty and staff is great. Everybody here are very nice, kind and helpful. First, the admistrators do their job and handle situatuions correctly. They make their students feel comfortable when a problem is going on. Our secrartaries are great. They are filled of joy and ready to work with you, they always try to make everyone feel welcomed. Our teachers, are great, they work with you 1-on-1 if you are ever stuck in a problem or don't understand something. Also, teachers treat their students like they are their own kids. When a student is having an issue at home or anything, whoever you feel comfortable the most talking to is ready for you. South Lake is just a great school and everyone is set up to achieve in life. The teachers, administrators, counselours and couches are always pushing us to make us a better person and successful in life.

Its very low key and tame. It could have better classes, materials, and builidings, but it is good enough.
