I have 4 children, one currently at Hall, 3 that attended K-5, my children can read, write, and do arithmetic. All my children participated in the SUN program. This school takes a hit from the massive apartment community that pulls kids out and puts them at Hall for short periods of time. Hall has a diverse student body which I feel better prepares my kids to live in a state and country that accepts diversity.

The teachers are great but the school isn't ran well, first off the special ed department had violent kids who were tormenting and bullying the sensitive kids and they didn't have enough help in the room so the teacher had to call parents and warn them about the problem. Then I find out that in the freezing weather all kids are being sent outside instead of having an indoor recess. After I call to have my son stay in because extreme cold triggers his asthma I get told I have to have a Dr's note. My kids ate getting sick all the time now that winter came around. It's wrong and I consider it neglectful on the part of the school. I'm getting my kids out as soon as I can I just feel bad because the teachers have done so well with my kids in the class room and if it weren't for the freezing recess outside and the abuse in the special ed from the violent kids the school would be great.

I had two children at Hall. One with special needs and behavioral challenges. Despite these challenges his academics improved dramatically while he was at Hall. My other son started at Hall after leaving a charter school. His basic skills were low but with the help of the excellent Title One team, he caught up quickly. Last term, in middle school he received over a 3.5 GPA and a Principle Recognition Award. I'm a proud and grateful momma!

My son has attended 1st through 4th grade at Hall Elementary. Teachers and Principal, staff and librarian I would rate as outstanding. The only shortcoming that I have noticed is a matter of resources, as in large class sizes, and limited extra-curricular options. Hall Elementary deserves a far higher rating than a 3!

Our child started Kindergarten this year. I was worried based on the "rating" shown on Great Schools, and registered for every lottery in every charter school locally. When we didn't make any of the lottery drawings, we were "stuck" with our district public school. So far, Hall Elementary has exceeded every expectation I've had of public school. I'm proud to say our son is a Hurricane!!!!
