I attended this school from 2021 to 2024, and looking back on my three years here, I’d say it was a decent experience with some flaws. There were many chill and nice teachers, but as the saying goes, no school is perfect. Some teachers I encountered were, in my opinion that was mentally incompetent.Additionally, the administration often handed out ineffective punishments for serious offenses, such as physical altercations between students. When students reported being bullied, the administration took an unnecessarily long time to address the issue, almost as if they didn’t want to deal with it.Lastly, the school lunch was awful. It was the same chicken chunks and fries every day, topped off with a small bag of Cheez-Its. The cheese pizza, which was also a regular option, tasted like rubber. I do not recommend this school

This school sucks the staff treats students Mr. Clement is a bad principal they don't care about your mental health and the food sucks half of the time it's cold and I find hair and roaches in it the amount of work teachers give students is crazy and they expect you to do it in one day the students lie about each other talk about each other and they are crazy in general being a student at gms I have experienced all these things.

This school is a very bad place to send your students to. I have been here since 6th-8th grade, and we just keep getting disappointed. Although the principal or teachers may act nice in your face. In reality, they are rude just how the students are. Throughout the school I seen how one of the teachers handle the special education students roughly. I am never excited to learn at school, because we learn about the same thing every single day! The curriculum is bad, and the teachers are plain right lazy. This school would be good if your child was in TAG. But the rest of the classes are not good enough. Some teachers are actually reasonable and give you reassurance, while others are just plain rude. And it's most of the teachers here, even the principal's! They complain about the dress code, having a hood on or hat, but doesn't take a thought if something is going on with them today. The therapists/gudiance are complete trash. Your children will definitely not be safe at this school. Towards the beginning of the year, someone brung a gun and they never found out. Till the person used it on another student. The school reaches out to the family sometimes, but at a short notice. There are very sexist teachers here. Please if you just moved here, here's a suggestion. PUT THEM IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS!!! Or somewhere else but here. Mr. Clement isn't worth anything but nickels! The schedule advisor's do not help you at all. So now my daughter is stuck being in class with people that make her uncomfortable. And my daughter has gotten ISS (In School Suspension) just for using the bathroom! This is unacceptable!

This school is mid. Some teachers were disrepectful to some students. The principal never really has anything nice to say. The bathroom are always vandilized and they don't have any vegan free snacks.

I do not recommend attending this middle school. Teachers are lazy and strict. The teachers are disrespectful to students. Staff is rude and does not mind their business. Food is disgusting and overcooked. Lunch is the same food every single day. The Counselors are great and help with the students great. The counselors care about the students mental health unlike the teachers. The teachers treat students differently. If you aren’t in tag they will treat you differently than the tag students. Don’t come to gms.

First of all, My kid came from a neighborhood elementary school. Before school started every year we would get to meet the teachers. When I was a kid, each summer before school started we would get to meet the teachers even in my high school which had 2000 people. Not here. The orientation for 6th graders is the day before, and sure parents can attend, but they can not meet teachers. YOU CAN NOT MEET YOUR CHILD'S TEACHERS until back to school night. When is that? Oh I'm not sure since they moved it. They also reissued schedules for students 2 weeks into school. The bus to the school was showing up after 9:00 the first week of school. I have called this school multiple times starting in the summer to inquire about electives. I WAS TOLD ON THE PHONE that all 5th graders picked their electives for 6th grade at the end of fifth. I spoke to several moms and that was not the case. So I called again was told schedules were being printed and would be mailed. Schedules were not mailed. They still don't have lockers. They've been in school for 2 weeks and learned absolutely zero things. I mean the transition from elementary to middle school is a pretty big deal to completely screw it up is beyong reprehensible. I have zero faith in this school to present a basic education for my son and we've been here 2 weeks.

I was a student for 6th and 7th, 2013-2015 and not in the TAG program. I was an honors student in 7th grade. The school and the teachers were very nice. But many students get themselves into a lot of trouble and in general it was not something you would not want to see. The teachers that I had tried their best to avoid any fighting but the administration could careless.

I went here for 7th and 8th grade and both were questionable experiences. First, I wasn't in the tag program which meant I was on the "bad" part of the school. The tag students are treated like royalty they get better classrooms, less amount of students in their classroom like 14 kids compared to the normal classes that have like 40, they have separate lunches and better teachers. However, the "bad" side gets treated like and jail inmates. We get hoarded in groups to any location, the teachers could care less about your problems because they have to deal with the constant fights and drama in the classroom, there are many "students" that just go to socialize and couldn't care less about their education, if almost impossible to not get bullied in the hostile classrooms and the number of fights is actually depressing. Lunch is also terrible because you have to wait in a line that is basically of hoard of people, the lunch ladies have no patients and I have gotten cursed at numerous times, if you are at the back of the line once you get to the food options only thing left is a hamburger meat with a hot dog bun with no milk I'm not lying that's what we pay for. In the 8th grade both my math and science teachers quit before half the school year and I ended up having at least 4 different substitutes for my math class that were forced to somehow teach us the curriculum without any materials or assistance. One of the substitutes was an art teacher that had to teach us pre algebra with no teacher book or any materials I honestly felt bad for him. In the end, Greenbelt Middle School is not a good school for numerous reasons as you can see. Basically, all the teachers are forced to deal with drama in the classroom which restrains them from their teaching potential. If you aren't in the tag program DO NOT go to this school because it WILL affect your future in high school which builds on what you learned in middle school, it WILL affect you socially because of all the bullying and it WILL affect your motivation to attend school. If you can try to attend another middle school and if you can't brace yourself. And lastly, I attended this school between 2014-2016 the school hopefully will change in the future because my brother will soon attend the school and I don't want the same for him. If your child is in the TAG program Greenbelt is a great school. If not, the children are herded like sheep. No individual care because the class sizes are too large. TAG = 14 students to a class/ Regular Population = 40 students to a class!!!!!!!!!!!!! This make no sense at all. Tax payer dollars going to waste once again! A national disgrace.

Greenbelt middle school has a beautiful new building and a TAG/HONORS program. The choir is wonderful and the art teacher is good. The school is large and enrollment is high. The staff and teachers are talented teachers but the school is not good at communicating with parents on an individual level. There are problems with bullying and fights. The school is not very good for children who have learning issues, like ADHD, while they seem to do well with children who are handicapped. My daughter has been bullied and teased at school and the lack of communication, and spotty use of technology for communiation by teachers and staff has made our experience a poor one.

This school houses a TAG magnet program which my child attends, so parents of comprehensive students may have a different take, but I am very pleased with how things are going so far. My child is appropriately challenged here. The teachers are great. The use of technology is a little scattershot, and the platforms are not perfect, but overall we're very happy. The school handled an incident between my child and another student EXACTLY they way you hope they would, and everyone is OK with how the incident was resolved. I gave the "parent involvement" category two stars only because as it is a magnet program that's not exactly close to where we live, it's challenging to be directly involved as a working single parent.

Horrible school. There are no parent/teacher meetings. Greenbelt Middle School does not encourage parent involvement or use technology such as emails to communicate homework, projects and grades.
