My daughter was live 7 years in which she presented high and low self-injurious behavior. However, they made very few medication changes and they never got her protective equipment, each year his behavior gets worse, but that was the trick to never stabilize it so that it would remain for life in Residential School in Berkshire. She became ill on many occasions, hygiene was poor and her belongings disappeared all the time. They never controlled their behavior because they said that the best thing to do was to ignore her and hit herself. I suffer a lot to see them with blows, sad and out of control. I removed her from the residential and was hospitalized for 1 month healing her wounds. Never in life do I leave my daughter alone in a residential school or psychiatric hospital, these places see these children and young people as a symbol of work and money. The best place for them is with the family giving them love. No matter how disability affect our children are safer with their parents because these places are negligent. I regret having lost 7 years, but today she is happy and is improving more than away from us. Fight for your children do not seek the easiest option.

My son entered Berkshire Meadows many years ago when it was called Berkshire Children's Center. When he turned 22, I was afraid he would have to leave but they were authorized to have an adult unit at just about that time, so he is still there. His mother and I worked in the field of care for children (and adults) with developmental disabilities so knew what we wanted for him. After nearly two years of searching, we found it here. Care and services have been superb! Now that I am in my 80s, it is wonderful to be able to feel confident that he will continue to be loved and well cared for. I can hardly praise the staff and administrators enough.
