My children go to Shawmut and we attend as a school of choice! The teachers are amazing and the principal too! The amount of care and concern with academics is amazing. This year my children tapped maple trees and learned how to take sap and make it into maple syrup! There is an edible garden where my kids plant and harvest vegetables, outdoor learning areas, monarch way-stations, and so much more! Shawmut is a hidden gem of GRPS! The PTA is extremely involved and they have so many ways for parents to be directly involved with learning. I highly recommend Shawmut! If you live in the area you should really stop by and take a tour - that’s what I did and I am so glad we made Shawmut our choice!

This school is a hidden gem on the west side of Grand Rapids. The children are well behaved and the staff is very dedicated to reaching all learning. You will be impressed with the schools STRm activities and the integration of technology and hands on learning

This school gets 5 stars from me, the teachers do a great job of teaching us what we need to learn but at the same time show their personalities and make me feel welcome in the school, I have been at Shawmut for 9 years and every single teacher I've had would get a 5-star rating, the students are all friendly and make me feel safe and welcome. The people I've met there over the years are some of the best people I believe ill ever meet, the teachers are one of a kind and it feels like a 2nd home. If you live in the area, I highly recommend sending your kids here and the teachers will welcome you with open arms, once the pandemic is over of course.

My son is in 5th grade as of 10/20/20. The way this district, and all the other liberal districts, wants everyone to hide and cower in their house is disgusting. We are in the process of transfering our kid to another school outside of the poorly ran GRPS. GRPS has gone 100% virtual till 2021, if you think inner city kids were poorly educated before, just way till these covid kids grow up!!! Everyone that has a hand in running GRPS should be ashamed!!!! Let kids go back to school!! Science is NOT on your side only your politics!!

I went to Shawmut Hills as did my children. It was the highest rated school in GR. What in the world has happened to it? These test scores are terrible. The parents in the past would have worked our fingers to the bone getting the education into these kids heads. My grandchildren are moving to Michigan and I wonder if we can have with their futures by sending them to our once beloved school!

Overall its a great school socially for the students and community there's only a handful of favorite parents that help out can be very cliquey teachers don't inform or offer asst. In finding help when a student struggels the general answer is to send them back a grade

My son loves being a Shawmut Hills Shark! :) His teachers have been wonderful, and it's great to have such an accessible and helpful principal. The sensory lab is super helpful for active kids to get some energy out! The playground has big trees and lots of space to roam (rare for a city school). Gifted children are challenged, and we love the diversity that you just don't get at a private school.

This GRPS school has so much to offer. We have a great principal, a state of the art Sensory Lab, art, music, gym, and library! Our teachers and support staff are outstanding! Shawmut really prepares our students for the next level in their education.
