I have seen first hand students achieve great success at Alexander Wilson. The principal Ashley Westmoreland is such a strong team builder. She always is doing things to make the teachers and staff feel appreciated. I see this positive demeanor filter through the teachers and staff down to the students. The students are met with positive energy each and every day. The teachers rally around each other and work together. This translates to an excellent teacher/student relationship. One that inspires all to excel and give their best. I have been to many great schools and some pretty bad ones. I have to say without question Alexander Wilson Elementary is one of the best. The best of the best. Whatever you are doing keep doing it. The kids love this school and you can see it in each and every one of them.

My daughter is in first grade this year and even with so many challenges, the experience has been amazing. My daughter is excited to see her teacher, has been highly engaged through the zoom instruction and has even been on several virtual field trips. The front office and admin staff are super responsive and friendly. Im excited for my daughter to continue here! It is a warm and friendly environment.

We have a special needs child and have had the best experience with Alexander Wilson. Our son has excelled with the help of the teachers and special ed staff. They are just as much concerned with his needs as they are mine as a parent. I am on a first name basis with them. I am happy that they have helped our son to learn to read, do math problems and be involved with the rest of his classmates. The teachers are amazing, very dedicated to their jobs and the students. The principal and the vice principal are outstanding and always helpful. The vice principal ALWAYS responds to an email or a phone call immediately. They have always made me feel like family and I know 110% that they care about my child's education and adjust his learning styles to make sure he gets the best. In regards to the pick up and drop off line. The teachers at this school have this down pat. Our child gets dropped off in the am and then rides the bus home. Drop off is a breeze. Get there a few minutes early and you'll be on your way quickly when they start the unloading process. I have picked him up a few times and their system is amazing. Yes, there are a lot of people who do parent pick-up. So there tends to be a long line. But their system is wonderful and they get the kids loaded as quickly as possible. Let your child ride the bus if you are concerned with this.People who complain about the teachers and the staff should understand that these people are doing the very best they can with what they are given. The school systems are chronically understaffed and the staff they do have is underpaid, often times using their own money to help stock their classrooms with supplies. If you really want to make a difference in your child's education, volunteer. Get involved- this is truly the only way for the teachers and staff to know they are appreciated. This will help so much more than to complain about what they are not doing. You get more flies with honey than vinegar!

My son was forced to attend this school and I regret every single day that he had to attend. This is not a diverse school at all..the teachers care more about their personal conversations with each other rather than their students..they are rude and very unhelpful...the drop off and pick up lines are ridiculous just as the staff...please please close this school...I have contacted the school board in regards to a teacher bullying the kids...nothing was done about it...the principal gets paid to hide for the most part...its just a bunch of ridiculousness at this dusty dirty no good school...this was one and a half year of nothing positive in my child's life...we have made it our point to let ALL our family and friends know about this school...DON'T GO!!!! Move...request a transfer...anything!!! Act sick...play sleep...its just that horrible

Not impressed. Principal is never around and the school is a mess. Teachers seem unhappy. My child doesn't even want to go to school but I have no other choice at this point.

eh- i've not been too impressed. the school manages to test out pretty well with eogs, but there are definitely shortcomings. half the staff seem unfriendly and unmotivated, the facilities are cluttered, disorganized and filthy and there is only a small group of parents who seem to run the show without allowing much room for newcomers to contribute. hopefully, the new principal can insist on a higher level of professionalism, cleanliness and more parental involvement from underrepresented populations.

This is my son's first year at Alexander Wilson and he absolutely loves it...We bought a house in the school's district to move from Sylvan Elementary because his grades were suffering horribly. He gets so much more individual attention and his grades have dramatically improved. The teachers were very welcoming. The only thing would recommend is that they have some sort of a buddy system to make the new kids feel more welcome. I watched from the car rider line everyday for a week as my son sat by himself under the slide and not a single person, (student or teacher) spoke to him...This was very troubling for em to watch everyday.
