recently had an unfortunate experience with Glendale American Elementary where I encountered a significant bullying problem. It deeply saddens me to share this review, as I believe every student deserves a safe and nurturing environment to learn and grow.My daughter observed instances of bullying that were not adequately addressed. It is disheartening to witness fellow students being subjected to such behavior, as it can have long-lasting effects on their well-being and academic performance.I found the school's response to bullying incidents to be insufficient. It appeared that there was a lack of proactive measures in place to prevent bullying, and when incidents were reported, the actions taken were often minimal or ineffective. This left victims feeling unheard and unsupported, further exacerbating the issue.I strongly urge the school administration to prioritize the safety and well-being of their students by implementing comprehensive anti-bullying programs and fostering an inclusive culture. It is crucial for them to take immediate and decisive action to ensure that all students feel safe, respected, and valued within the school community. In addition to the bullying, my daughter reported odd comments made by staff regarding her use of make up and indirectly calling her a liar for reporting that there were fights at school. To make matters worse they are short staffed and only teaching ELA and Math to seventh graders.Upon requesting for my daughter to be withdrawn the staff did not request a reason. Further showing their disregard for the students feelings.I sincerely hope that they recognize the importance of addressing these issues promptly and take the necessary steps to create a safe and inclusive environment for all students.

Endless meetings and PDs, teachers don’t have much time for planning or even bathroom. Teachers are forced to take work home all the time. The school has a lot of misbehaving kids, but their parents tend to claim that they are being bullied actually the opposite. The class size is typically over 23 even for kinder, some have over 30 kids. That’s why this school’s turnover rate is so high. Some parents have no idea what’s going in the class, just complain about the trivial things all the time.

I do not recommend in Glendale American if you want your kids to get a great education. If your kids are late to school they hold them in the office if there’s not a parent available to sign them in and instead of just signing them in and getting them to class they make them sit in the office until a parent can come up there whether the parents at work or not. They’ve had my kids sitting in the office since they arrive 15 minutes late and they cannot go to class until I can get off work and sign them in! This is the most absurd thing I’ve ever experienced with the school and I would not recommend sending my children to the school ! I even spoke with the principal and the fact that it’s only certain schools that are doing this not all of the schools only Glendale American and even the person in Glendale district said this is foolish and that kids should be in class and not sitting in the office because they cannot be signed in because they were late And the principal can care less that these kids are not in class learning! They were sent work up to the office for them to do while they have to wait for a parent to come and sign them in or one of the emergency contacts! I will be going to the board because this cannot be okayed and Kids should be able to go to class and learn regardless if they are late! This is not a policy that effective all it is doing is making them this time of learning

As an educator, I continue to grow immensely at this school, specifically with classroom management and small group instruction. The teachers here are absolutely wonderful, supportive, and compassionate and I would trust any one of these teachers to teach my future children. The most difficult part of the job is the behaviors which can make it extremely difficult to teach, especially to all the kids in the class that want to learn so badly. With the students that have poor behavior, it is often due to a lack of parental involvement which makes it even harder to help with the behavior. If the teachers, parents, and administration worked closely as a team for the troubled behaviors, it would really impact the school in a positive way.

My overall experience as an educator at Glendale American has been great. Teachers and students work together to build a positive community that holds high expectations for learning. Glendale American is a welcoming school that strives for students. All of our work is data based and geared towards student success.

I have been an educator here for many years. There is a climate of respect among staff members, and the amount of resources available for classrooms seems well above average compared to other schools I have visited. While there are many challenges in teaching, I love all of my students see other teachers have the same relationship with their kids.

When I got my kids out of school because we relocated they sent an email thanking me for letting them be part of my sons life’s. I appreciated that. I know my kids were not the most behaved students but they remembered them was admirable. Thank you! You will never find a perfect school but it just takes people that care. No cares how much you know until they know how much you care!

I'm a proud staff member of Glendale American. Our teachers work tirelessly to ensure leanring for all. Our students are amazing and I'm so blessed to get the opportunity to educate such a great group of kids. We are thankful for our partnerships with parents and community members.

awful. the office staff is rude. when you ask them questions they have physically rolled their eyes at me. they gossip like mad with parents sitting right infant of them, about other teachers, about other children attending the school, and about parents. the teachers that are good are far and few between.

My son started this year at Glendale American. He was afraid of a new school but quickly made a connection with a few teachers who helped him. My son has some issues and needs extra help. He had a teacher he really connected with and this teacher made a huge difference for him. He liked going to school and talked about this teacher all the time. Several other parents told me he was a very good teacher. This teacher left the school during the year and now my son is struggling. His new teacher doesn't seem to know how to help my son. Another teacher I spoke with said several other students in this class appear to be having problems. Next year my son will be starting a new school as I can not and will not take another year like this one.

My child went to this school for a half of the year. My child was also bullied and only one teacher seemed to do anything to assist and was very helpful. I would have taken my child out sooner if not for the efforts of this teacher. I was told other teachers my child was part of the problem yet when I asked nothing was provided to show me. The other student had a history of behavior issues according to several other parents and students. I finally took my child out of this school. At parent teacher conferences I was given a report card but not shown any work my child completed showing me any issues. It was the first time I heard there were academic issues. The communication was terrible even after I asked to be updated.

Glendale American is the worst school my children ever attended. Bullying is the norm and the child being bullied gets punished, not the offender. The principal will act, only after the school district offices are called. The vice-principal is a cold-hearted woman who has no care or concern for the children that attend, Even the middle school teachers bully their own students. The curriculum is sub-par, there are no field trips, very little homework, and the teachers have no interest in communication with the parents. AVOID this school!!

Glendale American is an excellent school. Both my children have enjoy the learning experience. My kindergarten looks forward to a wonderful day at school and doesn't like it when it's a holiday. She's always eager to go to school and proud to show what she has learned. For the last five (5) years I have been at the school almost everyday and have not seen or heard any bullying. It is important that the parents be involve in the learning process. I have volunteered once to help with the fundraiser and it was a wonderful experienced. The like the parents coffee talk and the involvement with the principal is excellent.

Don't pay any attention to the recent reviews, I suspect they are staff lying for the school. This school is worse than horrible, bullying is everywhere and I had to pull my child out. I wouldn't send any poor child to this school.

My school is a great school because teachers are loving and care about their students. It is a safe place, as it is kept locked to outsiders, and they have a wonderful volunteer screening to work with children. In addition, professional development is ongoing and staff is hard-working. Students are couteous and respectful. I would send my children to this school.

This school is great! Students are polite to adults, and they walk to classes in an orderly fashion. Staff is dedicated to making it a warm and friendly place. They have a "Family Education Center" for parents to go to for morning coffee and get brochures in both english and spanish. Administration works with staff on professional development. Bullying is not tollerated and it is a very safe environment. This school has shown much improvement in parental engagement. What a great place to send you students!
