Awful, high percentage of parents pull their kids out of the district when they see the through the smoke and mirrors.

We moved here last here specifically for the school district and have not been disappointed. The staff has been fantastic and extremely supportive of both of our children. The work they are doing is challenging, the school is old but lovely (very charming), and the activities/field trips, etc. have been impressive thus far. Not sure where the bad reviews are coming from but clearly they're not attending Glen Head...or they're just miserable people. My guess is on the latter.

Administration does not emphasize or foster academics. Run more like a day care or camp.

This school is amazing academically and has a strong sense of community that your young children will thrive in!!!! We came from a G&T program in Brooklyn that is well respected. They have the option of learning 2 languages, are taught to play an instrument (wind and string are available), strong art, recess (will is new for us), and so much more. When I asked my children "what they like most about their new school?" They said "the teachers really teach here if you don't understand something." To me this speaks volumes. There is nothing more important than a strong foundation! Also, on a social level, my kids have tons of friends and the kids in this neighborhood actually play outside. I feel very lucky to have found such an amazing community.

My child will be enrolling into Glen Head Elementary School this coming September. I don't know much about this school, and there are only 2 old reviews from 2005. Any honest comments about the school, teacher, principle, and overall education experience will help. Thanks.
