The school has absolutely done nothing about bullying the put a stay away agreement against the kids stating that the kids shall not go near each other and if they do they go to the alternative school in this community and time kids do not care the gifted and special education programs are laugh at and spit on by the football kids and cheer kids and all the higher ups in what they say is the schools food chain such as the “popular”kids look down upon everyone they bully them and destroy self esteem and self worth the kids they consider the lower kids started suicidal behavior within the school the “unpopular” kids grow tired and weak so they use drugs and alcohol to fix what the school doesn’t even attempt to help them with the start students are the athletes cuz they can do no wrong to the schools eyes but they are the ones drinking and caping without the schools knowledge I do suggest a better school or even home schooling suicidal behavior rates went way down within Texas due to school from home in no one was being bullied when Covid took its place in the world and kids passed more classes self worth was high and the kids were able to not have to worry about fighting to be apart of the schools good graces the principals have no problem talking down on students and releasing the kids information to other students

I have a student at this school currently and I have had students in this school over the past ten years. I have been consistently been pleased with the education my children have received. State test scores at this school have been great over a long period of time. Anyone that would say differently is just uniformed. While extra-curricular activities are important, this school has always stressed academics as well. You can look back at this school's academic performance over a long period of time and see for yourself. Try looking at reliable sources of information such as the Texas Education Agency's website.

Wonderful school. Even though the facilities are not great, the staff at Gilmer High School are! My kids thrived in at this school and had much success, thanks to the teachers and administrators over the past couple of years. I highly recommend Gilmer High School to anyone.

In the past four years, this school has really taken a nosedive academically. test scores are down, teacher respect is nonexistent, and behavior problems (i.e. drug usage, fights, and bullying) are on the rise. Football players are given immunity, and chaos often ensues because of it. I know several of my favorite teachers left (two of them even took a pay cut to go somewhere else) because they were fed up with the administration and plummeting standards. I've compared my education with those that I went to college with, and the differences have been astounding. I had to do so much extra work just to get on their level my freshman year. I would tell anyone living in the area to drive a few extra miles and go to a neighboring town's school.
