Kids were new, and they felt welcomed and accepted very quickly making a hard adjustment very easy. They are happy to go to school every day and excited to participate in all the fun activities they host.

I've had three students attend Gilmer Elementary. I have been nothing but pleased with the Education they have been provided. The teachers seem to have high expectations for academic performance and behavior. The communication from the school has been great and I feel as if my students are safe and cared for. I would recommend this school without hesitation.

My child has been in Gilmer ISD since Pre-K. His teachers up until this year have been wonderful! That is about the only good thing I can say about Gilmer Elementary. He has been put on the bus when he wasn't suppose to be, put on the wrong bus, was allowed off the bus at a friends house and was missing for over an hour; to which the school replied "these things happen." There was one other occasion where he was put on the bus with no drop of destination and took the full route with the driver. She didn't notice until she arrived back at the bus barn. His teacher this year gave up on him almost immediately telling me "bless your heart. I just don't know what to do with him." He had to miss a week this year to go out of town for a family emergency and they claimed he has missed too many days to advance to the next grade. Yet the kids are let out for 3 days every year a carnival comes to town and also released for football games. There is little to no effort from the staff in regards to any of the above mentioned events. The office is always rude. Disorganized beyond anything I have ever seen and never accountable. I don't plan on enrolling him in Gilmer ISD next year.

I took my children out of this school. Within the first week of my son being in pre k he was put in iss. His teacher called me to confess she spanked him in then bathroom. The bus was horrible and never would protect my kids. Some of the teachers were very sweet and caring but others seemed to not even care. They took out the art classes and left music and my son loved art.
