The administration (Principal Butler) does not follow WCPSS Board Policies. He is a horrible example of leadership for these kids and their parents (disrespectful, dismissive, condescending) and his staff (the retention at this school is dismal due to his lack of professionalism and understanding of educators needs). Since the students have no leadership, there is no structure. There’s no discipline or consequences for these kids. These kids know they have no leadership, no structure and zero consequences. The kids run the school without any regard for authority because there isn’t any. The educators need help. The educators who do remain are trying their hardest to teach, but when the kids act out in their classroom, they know if they remove the students from the classroom those same kids will be back within 5 minutes because there isn’t anyone properly disciplining them. The fighting between students at this school is out of control. The bullying goes unchecked because according to Principal Butler, they’re “one-off situations.” This school is an absolute mess without any possible future of improvement, at least under the “leadership” of the current administration.

The teachers were rude and unhelpful, I learned absolutely nothing, and in all my years of transitioning from school to school, this one was the worst.

Overall, this has the been one of the toughest years to date for my son and that is largely due to one teacher at this school. Unfortunately, it is core curriculum. I hope this experience wasn't the norm but it was normal for the whole school year for us.

Office staff unprofessional and do not greet parents when you approach the office, teachers are never smiling, The 6 graderd don't each lunch until after 1:30 And the cafeteria staff is horrible the fees the kids the bare minimum and kid tells me it's not good and they always run out of stuff. I absolutely hate this school, I don't even see how teachers continue to work here guess the and conditions don't bother them as long as they can get their check.

I'm pretty sure teachers and administrators are leaving fictitious 5-star reviews. This school is horrible. Most of the teachers seem burnt-out and extremely irritated. The principal doesn't bother to acknowledge new parents or students, even when your try to connect. There are so many kids sent out of class that they're just roaming the halls. The classrooms are LOUD and distracting. It seems like they just give all of the work to do at home, and nothing is taught during the day. It's really weird and it makes me so sad for the students who can't just pick up and go to another school.

North Garner Middle School is a terrible school. The principal does nothing to help with the safety concerns parents have. People go in and out of the school without anyone making them sign in at the office. Students leave the school cutting through the staff parking lot and crossing the Street because their parents don't want to wait in carpool. The principal does nothing to stop this dangerous problem. My child had a math teacher that Is a bully. When the sixth graders ask questions she tells them they should know that already. She takes pleasure in embarrassing students. She does not post any grades on power school or answer emails. The principal does nothing about her. She does not send interims home on time or sometimes not at all. When I brought this to Mr. Butler's attention nothing was done about it. This has been the worst year! This is a horrible school with a few good teachers. My child's ELA and Social Studies teachers were excellent. Her Spanish teacher was also great. The principal needs to do his job!!!!! My child will not be returning next year!

I don't understand why there are bad reviews! I went to NGMS for the 2011-2012 in sixth grade, and I loved it! Yes, I can agree with the other student about the sagging issue. I don't know about the "broken chin" or "glass breaking" because sixth grade was one of the best school years of my life! I met awesome people that I'm still in contact with today at NGMS. From what I remember, it wasn't the cleanest of schools, but it was great and I loved it. Highly recommend.

Teachers and staff do nothing when a student is physically or verbally harassed by other students, in plain sight. Glasses broken, punched in the chin, lunches flipped over, books thrown to the ground. Can't abide by this anymore.

This school is not the best for its academics. I am a current 7th grader there and I am not happy with most of my teachers. I have had so many problems that the school puts aside. I do not suggest going to this school if you want the best for your child. I can not wait to leave for there is so much bulling going on, and fights every day in the halls, that teachers and staff do not take care of. It is as if the students run the school and push the teachers around. The dress code states that sagging is not allowed yet everywhere you go in the halls people are sagging and the staff does not do any thing about it. Some of the staff is extremely rude or the teacher is too nice to his/her students and let them get away with too much. One of my teachers (who is actually considered to be one of the better ones in the school) tells us on a regular basis how much she dislikes teaching and that she should have kept her old job.

this school is really not the best enviroment for learning because they have so many bullis and the school teachers only call you for information about sports.

Though some of the teachers are communicative and responsive to parents, not all of them are. I regularly communicate with one out of three of my child's core teachers. Another teacher and I communicate sporadically and the third refuses to communicate. I am not impressed with the staff response to reports of bullying. My child is bullied, has been hit, has had possessions taken away, and is constantly subject to offensive and foul language. The administration's response to reports of bullying is that they talk to the offender and everything is handled. That offers no comfort to a parent of a child who is being harassed, intimidated, and threatened while at school or on the school bus. If you have a choice, do not send your child here if you want your child to receive an education. Kids here are more concerned with acting and looking like a hoodlum thug than learning. I am looking into other options for my child.
