My son has attended Strawberry Knoll from Kindergarten and is now graduating from 5th grade. All of the teachers my son has had have been wonderful and they care. Before the Pandemic and throughout they have always gone above and beyond. The school is diverse, the Principal Mr. Scott is great and gets to know the students individually. They have a lot of events and activities to include the family. I am very happy with the education my son received at Strawberry Knoll. If your child is shy or has challenges, they will find the "Knoll" to be a safe inclusive environment. I can't say enough about Strawberry Knoll.

The teacher does too much homework, and my children always need me to help them. The principal let the bully escape everything

Strawberry Knoll Elementary School is a GREAT school for children to attend. If you are looking for a nurturing and supportive environment with Teachers who WANT to teach to this demographic of students, then you have found your elementary school. The Principal, Mr. Scott, has a keen ability to be a Positive Male Role Model with TONS of Class to an entire body of young students, yet also sets an appropriate expectation of good behavior. The teachers range in total years teaching from a few years at this school to Long standing Experience of about 40+ years (All At SKES!). What is important to keep in mind is that this is Elementary School, and you want your children to start off LOVING school and Learning as well. Well, for that to happen, you HAVE to place your child(ren) in an environment where the school staff does their part to the fullest and you, as the parent, do your part to support your child and the teacher(s). Getting involved with the PTA and the school activities was what made SKES have that inclusive and family environment that my children love! And since we have all been teenagers before, getting involved with the school/activities while they are young is even more important since once they are teenagers (or pre-teens) they might not want the parents around as much. (Sigh...) With all that being said, I am so pleased about our experience at SKES and my 3rd Grader has been doing Extremely well. She reads at an Advanced Grade Level (and comprehends what she reads at an advanced level). Her 1st and 2nd Grade teachers took note from our parent-teacher conferences that I REALLY wanted to make sure her Math was excelling and not lagging or 'just making it'. They ensured that she was able to be challenged by placing her in Enrichment Groups and Small Table Groups that helped keep those students that were excelling at a faster pace inspired and motivated within the classroom. As a result, her MAP Testing scores have consistently increased and have stayed ahead of pace of both the school AND students in the District. My kids and their friends will certainly have fond memories of their experience of being a SKES Knight!

Very bad experience with us. Staff makes the bad recommendation for the child without even talking to the parents. Can you imagine!! It's very sad

Hands down. This school in FAN-TAS-TIC. As a parent of an autistic child we couldn't ask for more. The teaching staff takes so good care of our child they are quite as family now. LOVE every bit of this school.

I am coming from the perspective of a parent with a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder. First, our family was terrified to send our child to any public school because of her special needs. We were delighted to meet a principle and staff people who made us feel comfortable and who strongly encouraged us to give them a try. So far, we have not been disappointed. The school has worked well with our own therapists as well as theirs and they have really helped in our desire in making sure that our child is socialized and not just meeting the academic requirements set by the state. I would highly recommend that if you have a child on the spectrum to give them a try first before choosing a private school. They will work with you to help your family and child have a positive and successful education. The key is to keep communication open and be proactive and make sure all those involved in the care of your child is included. It is a lot of work, but so far our child has had a successful social and academic experience.

Strawberry Knoll ES is a great school for family and community based learning. Centered in a nice suburban DC metro neighborhood, the school offers a host of learning opportunities for children of very diverse backgrounds, cultures, races, etc. The principal and many of the school's teachers are very good at educating and maintaining a positive learning environment. Our school also has a nice PTA that allows parents to lead afterschool programs and other activities to enhance the school life for all the kids. I am so proud to be a parent at Strawberry Knoll ES and expect this next year will be even better.

Strawberry Knoll is one of the best out there! The school leaders and teachers create a very friendly, upbeat atmosphere, which allows the children to take chances and push themselves academically.

We are military, and have been blessed enough to stay in one place long enough for our children to attend this school for a couple years. I cannot say enough good things about Strawberry Knoll. The teachers are fantastic, the kids are well behaved and friendly. We have yet to hear about any issues with bullying. The principal, Mr. Kaplan knows pretty much every student by name. He takes time out to speak to parents and is always giving encouraging words. We have purposely tried to stay in this area as long as possible so that the kids can attend for as long as we are able, maybe even finish elementary school here!

My son attended the Preschool Enrichment Program (PEP) many years ago. It gave a severely handicapped son a wonderful start to his education. We continue to live in the neighborhood and hear nothing but great things about Strawberry Knoll school. Our homeowners association continues to meet in their all purpose room and you can see, walking through the school, that the wonderful learning experience continues. My son's picture is still posted in the hall as a child who was in the first "graduating class" of Strawberry Knoll Elementary School. Over the past 28 years of living in the community the children who have attended the school and have grown up and gone on to higher education have succeeded. My belief is this is due to the wonderful start in their educational journey. I would recommend this school to anyone family who would like a positive educational experience.

We have been attending Strawberry Knoll for 5 years. We are so happy to have gotten into this neighborhood. The kids and parents are very friendly and everybody is accepted. The creme de la creme is the Principal and the teachers and staff he supports. It is an environment that boasts caring and involvement that truly benefits the students. Each student is placed based on his/her needs and not just to fill a classroom. This is truly a model school.

The Knoll is a great school! Almost all of the teachers we've encountered here have been very committed to the success of the children at the school. There are a pretty good number of parents who are. The Administration of the school has been stellar. Principal Kaplan and Assistant Principal Ford are both great leaders. Our family has had mostly great experiences here.

My two daughters attend SKES and love it! I have had nothing but good experiences there. Principal Kaplan is great and willing to help and take care of issues promptly. Had a small problem with bullying and spoke to principal and all was taken care of the same day. The problem did not repeat!

My daughter has attended "the Knoll" for three years now. Love Principal Kaplan, office staff and the teachers. The school is diverse which in the case of this school has really been wonderful. Most parents are deeply involved and genuinely care about their children's education. This really adds to the learning environment there too. Kidsco before and aftercare in the multipurpose room also a big value add for working moms and dads.

We have two children that attended SKES. We were VERY happy with the experience and the education our children received. We were involved parents and I always think that is a key to success. The administration knew us, the office knew us, and we had consistent open communication with their teachers. Principal Kaplan has been leading the school since our first year and we couldn't ask for more from a principal. He has tremendous passion and enthusiasm for his school and his school children. The school is very diverse and I think that is a good thing since the last time I walked outside, so is the real world. SKES feeds into Gaithersburg Middle and Gaithersburg High. We have have been very happy at both GMS and GHS as well.

I have two children who attend Strawberry knolls Elem. I think that it is a good school with the exception of the theft problem. I believe that the school needs and should implement a system that works in regards to retrieving students' stolen /lost items. I think that it is important for the children and parents to feel secure in the fact that if their child left an article of clothing/item it will be where they left it or go to an area where it has been secured and retrieve it. I am saddened to report, that each time my children lost an item at the school we have been unable to locate it even with the assistance of staff. It has been very discouraging and frustrating.
