I am disappointed with some of the administrative choices that pertain to the academic quality at this school. For starters, children are only able to go to the library once every two weeks. TWO WEEKS?! That is absurd. The elementary school we transferred from let teachers have library passes in the classroom and children could go whenever they needed a new book. The administration does not give teachers a lot of independence and is very micro-managing of everything. That is also absurd. If you hire someone based on their ability to teach, let them teach and back off. Lastly, if students are placing high on exams and are at the top of their class, let them skip a grade if the parent supports it and will help the student succeed. I am just thankful my children have good teachers here. If they didn't we would leave.

I am also highly disapointed in the school. The school has been going down hill since Ms. Yates took over when Mrs. Bowen retired. I can't undertand why there was a Krispy Kreme Donut fund raiser at Lafeyette Elementary but the funds were for another school. The parents were told the fund raiser was for Lafayette but it wasn't. Ms Yates misinformed a lot of parents. I also am upset of the fact that a lot of teachers are leaving or have already left. In talking with many of the teachers, a lot of them are tired of having to deal with Ms Yates. It's sad to have a principle run off some of the best teachers in the school.

I am also HIGHLY disappointed in this school. The staff doesn't seem to know how to handle bullying even though they are supposed to have a "zero tolerance policy." My child has been bullied ever since she stepped foot into that school and nothing is being done. We've gone there time after time to bring up problems that our child has had and nothing was done. However, once my child started to act out against the students that bullied her now SHE is the problem and got suspended. Yet again, nothing was done to the children that bullied her. I wish we lived near another school in our county because my child wouldn't go back to LaFayette again. They don't know how to handle bullying, they don't know how to handle children that fall victim to bullying and they don't know how to straightforward and honest with parents.
