Concerning the Siren. Good parenting starts at home and is reinforced by teachers and staff. It is our responsibility as a parent to teach our children to distinguish sounds around us. This will help a child develop resilience and help them distinguish the difference between emergency and non-emergency situations. The guidance associated with good parenting and teaching can be modeled by one of the six pillars of Character Counts: Trustworthiness. Children place trust in their partners and teachers to guide them. The school and staff keep these practices alive and may ultimately help save lives in real situations where paying attention to Sirens is necessary for survival.

I think I am Lucky to be part of the staff at this school. I agree with the comments that say we are like a second family to our students. We are. That is our vision ... to have everychild and parent that walks onto our campus feel they are part of the S.B. Anthony family. In regards to the Siren... it is used to announce to the children that they have 3 minutes of Recess Left and they need to be reponsible and take care of personal needs such as bathroom and getting water before the end of Recess wich is marked by a regular school bell. If someone has a better suggestion as to how to call the attention of all the children 1-6 grade to let them know they have three minutes left in which to take care of personal needs please let the school know. We are always looking for community input and support.

I think the school should reconsider it's use of a siren noise to call the children in from recess. For any kid who's ever experienced police in real life or TV this is a disturbing noise. It's like they are in trouble every day when being called to line up.

Susan B. Anthony has an incredible Staff. There is many volunteers in the classrooms giving one on one attention to students. I am proud to have my children attend this school
