We transferred out of this school after just a few months. I’ve never seen anything like it, and it was nothing like the positive reputation I’d heard about. I think it’s changed the past few years. I keep hearing of many families also transferring out. There were fights ALL the time, my son would come home and show me videos taken in class of kids just messing around (I feel for those teachers), the principal was awful, and there is zero sense of community. Not the high school experience I’d want my child to have. But the worst was the fear my child would be hurt. There aren’t just fights among students, but also parents. My child was on so many lockdowns in just those few months- one because parents were fighting outside the school with a bat and one ran home to get a gun. I would never recommend this school to anyone.

Unfortunately this school has gone downhill in the last 5 years. There are numerous fights on campus, racial division, lack of learning with videos being taken on phones constantly during class. Many parents have been transferring their students out. Lack of leadership, poor morale and stressed out teachers.

If I could I wouldn’t put no star I’ve been waiting for the vice principal to call me for the past week and a half haven’t heard anything and it regarding changes but I guess they don’t seem to care about kids who want to better themselves

Teachers seem to have poor morale. I know a teacher that got put on leave for allowing students to discuss their experience with attempted abductions. It was one theme in our class project and so was on topic. Also, there is rampant grade inflation to push students through the system.

I would say it's a bit of a mixed bag. In general, I highly recommend this school more than any other in Fresno. However, I feel that there is such a high push towards putting all their students in AP classes whether they want those classes or not. Those AP classes seem to add on so much busy work preparing them for the tests that it completely wrecks their academics in not only that class but it leaves little time for the others. Also, the AP classes are not necessarily more inspiring or deeper learning; it seems to be a lot of memorizing and note-taking and it's in a way that just sucks the joy out of learning. That's my only criticism of Edison. Otherwise, I love its diversity, variety in electives, high standards, music education, and that they do push their students to do rigorous work. I just wish it didn't feel like a self-serving push just to say they have the highest number of AP classes offered. If those AP classes are just wrecking students' GPAs, what good are they? And if it's sucking the joy out of learning, isn't it counter-productive?
