My experience at Frankenmuth High School and the Frankenmuth Public School District has been mediocre at best. Over the course of my seventh and eighth grade I was ridiculed by the teachers because of my forgetful tendency. I was called out in front of the class and put on a pedestal of shame as an example of how not to be. In the second semester of my sophomore year my mother and I found out (with great trouble) that I have ADHD and am on the autism spectrum. (although not visually noticeable) So throughout the years that I had been put down because of being "lazy" and "not trying" I was actually trying my heart out, only nobody would listen. The special education program is atrocious in this school district. Many laws regarding special education that were being broken by the school had been covered up in a glorious façade. This school district only focuses on the natural born athletes and the out-going "perfect students." They cover up the wretched special Ed program (that's nearly non existent) and lack of care for the arts. I'm currently a senior attending this high school and am happy to reveal the true Frankenmuth High School that most people don't know about.

The overriding issue is exactly as some others have described; arrogance and resting on laurels. Crucial social issues are unaddressed, even unacknowledged, while favoritism towards athletes apparently remains unchecked. Although there are some excellent teachers, the administration's bungling and subsequent denial of their mismanagement has ranged from unnerving to appalling. Academically, they may be superior to some, but they are not at the pinnacle, as they seem to imagine themselves. I recall school news letters rife with improper grammar and spelling. Come on! My children started school with perfect English and were reading aloud beautifully before kindergarten. Thankfully, they have excelled despite their experience at FHS, but others are not. Some concerned parents are transferring their children from Frankenmuth Public Schools and paying tuition at the local parochial school which has proven delightfully impressive, especially in the science curriculum. Unfortunately, our only option for high school is FHS, so one family has purchased a second home in a distant city with a great school, where they will live until their child graduates. I miss them, but I do understand!

FHS has received a great deal of accolades due primarily to high performing test scores. The main reason for this is that the kids who attend come primarily from well educated homes where the parents are college educated, hard working and VERY involved in the entire education process. Additionally, the teachers are mostly very good. Keeping it real...the administration is poor. They are not at the front of education in a number of areas. The computer training is horrific. The counselors are overwhelmed and focus on paper shuffling. The principal seems to be resting on the laurels of a high performing school. Instead she should get moving on adding more AP classes, providing technology instruction that is current, and shore up her office - where the answer almost always is "no" - what's the question?

Frankenmuth High School has prepared our 3 children extremely well for College. We've been very pleased with all of the academic offerings and the addition of AP courses. Our sports programs have been a great compliment to the academics they've learned at FHS. I would strongly encourage anyone thinking of moving to the area to consider FHS.

A top notch school that has high test scores and sends nearly all students on to higher education. Academics are a top priority and several AP classes have been added in past years. They offer a wide variety of athletics and extra-curriculars where students also perform well. The school is not huge, your child will not get lost. Parents are actively involved and they expect top results. The staff is young, enthusiastic, and they make good use of new technology in the classroom.

Frankenmuth High School and the district in general used to be a great place. Now it is a good place. The school board and superintendent are a very clandestine operation and ruthless. The past four years has proven that athletics are a mere inconvenience to them. They would love for it to go away. They are also entertaining the idea of open enrollment which is not a good thing. The teachers union is very strong and they are in the pocket of the admin and vise versa. If I were moving to the area I would check out Freeland, Nouvel or Valley Lutheran. Freeland is closed enrollment and they really have it all going on over there. Frankenmuth has taken a hard turn to the left.
