Excellent relationship with students is very evident. Christ-centered environment is very obvious.

Two of my children are in the elementary school currently and my experience has been very positive. The teachers have used STAR test data to identify my children's reading level. Then, the teachers encourage them to read at their own reading level beyond the required classroom grade-level reading. Using Accelerated Reader and being encouraged by me and their teachers, my children ended the year with an additional grade level reading ability. My soon-to-be first grader is reading at a 3rd grade reading level and my daughter entering the 4th grade is now reading up to a 6th grade reading level. As a teacher myself, I am reading-focused as reading and comprehension is foundational for all subject areasThe faith-based environment allows teachers and staff to use the positive morals taught by the Bible as a guide to model and teach to my kids what it means to be a good citizen, in and out of the classroom, throughout the year.

Blackhawk Christian is an excellent school. The teachers and administration truly care about and love the kids. In addition, the students are exposed to and use technology on a daily basis (starting as young as kindergarten). Academics are top-notch, facilities are excellent, and the families are wonderful. Chapel is held weekly, but the Bible is studied daily. Our kids have learned so much about the Bible and life in general just from interacting with the teachers every day. A Christian worldview is certainly being taught. We were fearful that the families would be very "snobbish" or look down on those using vouchers, but we have not found that to be the case. Every parent we have met has been wonderful and accepting. The only downsides are that too often athletics are given priority over academics, and a foreign language isn't offered until middle school.

We've been at BCS for 3 years and absolutely love it! After being in two different school districts, we were so thankful by the blessing BSC was to us! All of the teachers are wonderful! They display a joyful attitude, in a caring environment while teaching in a creative way that makes my children eager for Monday mornings! We wouldn't be any other school !

Our daughter is enrolled in BCS. She started in 4th grade and is now entering 6th grade. This school was such a blessing for our daughter and our family. With the small class size, she grew academically and with the caring and concerned teachers she has grown spiritually. I have raised a son and never at any other school have I experienced the true concern and total availability of the staff as we have at Blackhawk. They are always quick to respond when I have questions or concerns. I can drop my child off and have complete confidence that she is in a safe, learning and caring environment in which to spend 7 hours a day. My only concern with Blackhawk Christian Schools is that they do not offer a very large option on sports for girls going into High School. My daughter loves golf and at this time there is not a golf program for girls and they don't start organized sports, until 6th grade.
