Werner is a great school and has been a wonderful experience for our son.

I now have two kids at Werner, and we have loved our experiences with the teachers, staff, and overall community with the school. We moved here from out of state and everyone is so welcoming and kind. The staff and school leadership are so enthusiastic about meeting the needs of our kids individually and as a community. One of my kids is advanced in reading and math, and they have special groups that give them the level of learning appropriate so they continue to grow. And there are so many great after school extracurricular activities that my kids have thrived in. My kids love going to school, and we all look forward to the school activities. I really couldn't say enough good things about Werner and its leadership. We love Werner!

Our son has an IEP and takes part in the ILS program. From the beginning we have felt supported in finding the best accommodations to set him up for success while meeting his goals. Inclusivity is a main goal for everyone and that has made such an impact on our son and feeling like he can participate in any school activity and function. He is in 1st grade now and has achieved so much with amazing support from his teachers and paraprofessionals. Finding a school that can provide all of the support that a child with special needs requires is difficult, but Werner has exceeded our expectations and we truly recommend it to others.

We have been at Werner pre and post Covid. I will tell you that the school has been great the entire time. The staff truly cares about each and every family. Our kids are excited to go to school every single day. I love their positive behavior learning system too. Every child is taught to respect, own their own behavior, have a positive attitude, and take responsibility for themselves, their learning, and their school. Any family would be lucky to be part of the Werner Community. We especially love their Fall Fun Festival. Such a special community.

One of the standout features of Werner Elementary is its team of experienced, high-quality teachers. The faculty here goes above and beyond in fostering an atmosphere of intellectual curiosity, creativity, and kindness.Equally impressive is the level of parent engagement at Werner Elementary. The school firmly believes that a child's education is a collaborative effort between teachers, parents, and the community. Werner Elementary encourages active participation from parents, valuing their insights and contributions. This open line of communication creates a strong support system, fostering a sense of belonging within the school community. Regular parent-teacher meetings, workshops, and events not only keep parents informed about their child's progress but also allow them to actively participate in their educational journey.

I have a second grade student who is thriving at Werner. The community is wonderful. The teachers and staff are smart and dedicated. They have awesome PE, Music, Art and before/after school clubs too. We are grateful to be Werner Wildcats.

Werner is a mixed bag. Some of the teachers are excellent and really care. Some of the teachers are worn out, tired, and mean to the kids - truly. There's even a 3rd grade teacher who's been there for about 30 years who teaches factually incorrect material (outdated world maps, for example) and shames the kids who are slow workers ("No recess for you!"). The principle is extremely intimidated by these tenured teachers and though there are tons of parent complaints (I know of several), nothing ever changes. And yet, we had a spectacular teacher there 3 of my child's years -- truly committed, compassionate, people. Thus, the "mixed bag" rating. Also, it's a high stress, highly competitive school with a lot of neurotic helicopter parents, so be aware of that. Ultimately, very disappointed with the leadership (principal) . but if you "luck of the draw" get the good teachers, you're set. (Oh, and one more thing -- they do NOT want to truly accommodate students with special needs, so they will refuse testing or do incomplete testing or stall on testing so as not to deal with it. Parents have to do tons of expensive external testing and bring in results to enforce accommodations to be put in place to support their kids).

We have been very pleased with Werner. My children were new last year and we were welcomed immediately. The principal takes the time to get to know each family and it really feels like a community. This year, my daughter's reading was a little lower than it should have been. She received extra help, including an after school "homework club." At the same time, my son is getting plenty of challenge in his advanced class. The PTA seems a bit "clique-y" but I think that is how it goes at any school. For the most part the parents are warm and friendly.

Based on our experience the school did not live up to my expectations. The teacher was very unorganized. My child had a folder that was supposed to come home on Thursdays with homework for the week. Instead the homework was often crumpled up in the backpack with a pile of crumpled art projects and schoolwork. I had to sift through piles of junk paper to dig for homework and communications from the teacher. We never had a clear understanding of what was expected. I volunteered in class and was surprised at how loud, unorganized and chaotic things were. The children didn't seem to know what they were supposed to be doing. In my opinion, elementary school children need to have some structure and a clear understanding of what is expected of them. I found the school to be very unstructured. Even the lost and found pile just sits in the hallway full of lost belongings that are just strewn about - another element adding to the chaos and disorganization that appears prevalent here. There were aspects of the school we liked but in general we were disappointed.

Wow, this has been just about the best move we could have made for our family. The teachers have been great for both of my kids. They were made to feel welcome and got right into fantastic social groups. I can't say enough about this wonderful learning community.

My kids first year at the school was 5th grade (2010/11) and it has been the worst of all the schools he has attended. He received a "F" on the second day of school! He didn't even know where his classroom was yet!! The teachers are very ridged and they don't take the time to get to know new students. If your family grew up in Werner you are good. If not good luck if you dont fit the right mold. My child who was a excellent student in 3 other states now hates school. Thanks a lot!

I will have to say that this is the worst school that we have encountered. Not only did my children lose a good quality education that they had received prior to coming here but they have great animosity towards their previous 5th grade teachers there. The principal has done nothing to improve the quality of staff that is teaching there and shows no interest in the concerns of the parents. The staff has NO interest in teaching but just receiving a paycheck and that is the saddest part of this experience. They should be ashamed of themselves having called themselves educators.
