Beattie is amazing at meeting students where they are. I've been impressed to watch staff meet students' needs in a way that helps them thrive.

We transferred into Beattie using the School of Choice program after a year of attendance at our neighborhood school and haven't had a single regret. The sense of community is second to none with the relationships developed between the students, staff and parents. When the school touts themselves as being "A Small School with Big Heart," they deliver on all fronts. Every single teacher, as well as support staff, care so deeply about the kids. You can feel it the second you walk through those doors. This has been especially important to our family as we've navigated some hurdles with our youngest.I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little leary of the open classroom/collaborative teaching model, but I quickly realized how incredible it truly is - the teachers work together seamlessly. It also creates a much higher level of personalized attention, the students regularly break off into their WIN (What I Need) groups so that the curriculum is tailored to their specific abilities. One other benefit to this model is you don't have to worry about which friend is in which class - in a time where kids are feeling all the feels, this can be such a godsend! They have activities gallore and regular events that our kids cannot wait to attend whether during school or after school hours, I truly can't say enough good things about this school, we absolutely love Beattie!!!

My son is a first grader at Beattie Elementary. We love this school so much, it's hard to put into words! The teachers and staff are approachable and responsive, and the sense of belonging and community we feel is really strong. When some hear "open classrooms" they may feel unsure and assume that it's chaos. But it really is the opposite. I've been in all of the classrooms as a volunteer, and it hasn't ever felt chaotic. The team-teaching model is actually really tremendous. You can really see how the teachers feel supported and thus that support is passed on to the students. Additionally, while I feel his teachers meet his academic needs, I see him thriving in all other areas as well. His sense of personal responsibility has grown, as well as his ability to "catch a clue" (read the room) in regards to situational awareness and responsiveness. It feels like Beattie is cultivating students who are excited to learn and helpful, respectable community members as well. BIGHORNS CLIMB HIGHER TOGETHER! (Also worth mentioning because I know it's important to many families out there: Beattie's academic growth is 97.5%, which exceeds state standards)

My daughter is now in 2nd grade at Beattie and I can’t say enough good things. The co-teaching model makes the students feel so supported by adults and teachers, and clearly creates happy & enthusiastic teachers. Beattie’s teachers ranked at the top for teacher happiness this year. In addition, all the students know each other so well, which creates community and a less clichy environment. Beattie has helped my shy, anxious girl to thrive and come out of her shell socially, while thriving academically. She’s learned emotional self-regulation and intelligence and continues to be taught kindness and rewarded for good behavior. As a parent, the Beattie community is warm & welcoming. We are thrilled to be bighorns!

Beattie is a school where everyone is welcomed, loved, and given what they need to succeed. They truly are a community, and the open classroom model fosters inclusion, collaboration, and an abundance of friendships amongst the kids. My son has a 504 and a Read Plan, and through very effective behavior interventions and reading instruction, his reading level went from red (far below grade level) at the beginning of the year, to reading at grade level by the end of the year. I can tell that he feels safe to try his best, knowing that he’ll make some mistakes along the way. The teachers and administration communicate very well, and welcome parents as partners in their child’s education. As a teacher and a parent, I’ve been nothing but impressed with and grateful for Beattie.

Beattie is a hidden gem. It is a small school with a deep sense of community. Beattie’s team-teaching/open classroom model allows teachers to meet each student where they are individually, helping all students find success in their own individual path.

We are so proud and lucky to be a part of the Beattie community. We have lived in Fort Collins for a long time but recently moved to the Woodwest neighborhood last year, just in time for our daughter to start kindergarten. We could not be happier! We are just a 3 minute walk to the school - we love biking and walking to school! All of the teachers, as well as the principal Mr. Whicker and assistant principal Ms. Castor, repeatedly demonstrate such a beautiful commitment to the growth, development, achievement, and connection of each and every student. They engage the parents and families overall, creating a sense of community that I have truly never experienced before. To be part of a neighborhood and community like the one fostered by Beattie elementary is truly priceless. Highly recommend!

My son was enrolled in this school and they released information about him to his grandfather who was not listed as a contact, and then allowed his grandfather to unenroll my son from attending this school without my permission to move him out of state.

We love Beattie so much! My daughter was in Kindergarten last year and I loved that they put the kids in groups based on their skill level for the reading and math parts of the day. That helped my daughter so much. Mr Patterson is a great principal -- he works so well with the kids, teachers and parents. The staff there truly care about the kids and their families. It feels like a tight-knit family! I am so happy my kids will go to Beattie, it is a great school.

Beattie is a top-notch school. The teachers are caring and, because it's a small school, they seem to know not only all the students in their grade but also in the school. My children learn through creative projects and use critical thinking skills daily. We are so glad we 'school of choice' at Beattie!

Beattie is a school which has wonderful Teacher's and a very caring staff. Our previous Principal Mr. Aldern built a very cohesive team of Teachers. This year we have a new Principal Mr. Patterson. Our first, concern this year with Beattie is with their new "Rocket Math". The Math includes basic operations such as multiplication tables as many as they can complete in a minute. Our children have lost their enthusiasm for this Math curriculum. One child told us "It's like eating the same cereal bowl everyday Mom, would you like that?" We find that their backpacks come home with worksheets and completed work, but we wonder why more creative projects aren't being produced in class. Artwork, hands on type of things coming home, more games in class to break up the worksheet routine. We would like to see more Math time in class spent on fun Math teaching. The Rocket Math feels like it's preparing them for standardized testing limitations but not much else. Homework also takes a long time to complete, not the 30 minutes it's meant too. Their P.E. teacher is really amazing. She does very fun things with the kids including snowshoeing, and frisbe golf.!

Beattie is a great school! They do a great job meeting the needs of each kid. They team teach and are able to meet in small groups. They have prioritized music, art and PE and that really helped our children.

I have nothing but GREAT things to say about this school and the staff. My son is about to start 4th grade and my daughter will be starting next year. The open classroom format is very unique and lends itself to teamwork teaching in each grade. the kids thrive in this format. I also love that it's a Beacon school for the gifted and talented. We wouldn't think to go anywhere else!
