My children are currently in 5th grade having started in Kindergarten at Saint Genevieve’s. The School has strong leadership and staff which has been recognised through national awards. My kids are happy and look forward to going to school each day. I particularly value the parent-teacher relationship and how the School involves parents in the community. I would highly recommend St. Gen’s!

I would rate this school very high. I tell people it is a diamond in the rough. I’m glade I came across looking for a better school than GMA (Which was having their teacher with student scandal) or Whitemarsh (that tried putting my son back in kindergarten & the teacher telling him he will never read). This is definitely why it’s a multiple Blue Ribbon school.

This is the perfect school for children of diverse backgrounds. The school, the staff, the parish and students are all inclusive. I say this as a minority parent with minority children. We looked at many schools before choosing St. Gens. I am glad we choose them to educate our children. I will never regret my choice of sending our children to St. Gens.

This school is a gem. The community is warm. The principal goes above and beyond to get to know every student and parent. The school is continuously trying to better itself. St. Gen's prides itself in raising respectful, educated, motivated students. They say they are in the business of building "good people," and I could not agree more. We choose to send our child here not only for the Catholic education, but to mold him into a genuinely good person.

I am a seventh grade student at Saint Genevieve's, and I have been going there since Kindergarten. I believe that the education at my school may be more interactive than that of a public school's. My learning experiences have led me to do very well on high school practice tests and standardized testing. They have an honors math class, which I am a part of. I found that, over the years, I have made strong bonds with the other students in the class, especially ones that i have known since kindergarten. The principal and teachers always do their best to extinguish bullying and problems between students in school. It is what you'd expect from a catholic school, although there is no central air, the Church is newly renovated and the classrooms are always warm in the wintertime. I have found that classes get smaller as the grades progress; my class had 30 students in Kindergarten and now we have 28, but class sizes have been increasing, some grades have closer to 40 and the lowest number of children in a grade is about 20. We always use the smartboards and netbooks, and the library has about 3,000 books. This may not be the nicest school or the largest school, but it is a great one.

I am a student at St. Gen's, about to enter into my eighth grade year. I've attended the school since Kindergarten and have loved it ever since. The faculty is dedicated to helping the students learn the curriculum to fullest extent, leaving no child behind. The classes are diverse and are a perfect size to insure that each student is included. The school offers so many extra-curricular activities. Also with newly installed security measures, parents can feel better knowing that their children will be safe. The school also has smart boards in every classroom and netbooks for use by the older children as further learning resources. All in all, St. Gen's is such an amazing school and though I look forward to high school, I will always look back on St. Gen's with a smile. I am sure that I can attribute any of my future successes to my days at St. Gen's.

As a Philadelphia transplant, coming from a family of educators/teachers, I belive St. Gens is one of the the closest you will find to an academy experience at a parochial school price. It has been my experience, with mutiple children, that the school is interested in developing a curriculum and resources to best serve it students - receptive and extremely hard-working. Anyone who understands the cost structure of running such a school in this day and age will appreciate the dedication of the adminstration, faculty, and staff. The greatest assest of the school is the like-minded Catholic community environment the children expereince - not very common today. The school, like all private education options, is not for everyone. Do your homework, be realistic, rational, and flexible and I suspect this school wil be among your top considerations and that you will have a great experience with this little gem. Hooray for the St. Gens community!

I must say I have had a completely different experience at Saint Gen's with both of my children! The students are the first priority and that is how it should be, the principal goes into each and every classroom everyday, and it is a huge contributor to their education. If you wish to send your child to a school where education and personal growth are key, St. Gen's is for you!

Not much resources available at this school. Not much diversity either! I do agree with the parent that the "K" class sizes is relatively large. Large class + limited resources = neglected children. And neglected children will fall behind and fail. There is ligature to prove this. This where it becomes a "school problem" and not a "YOUR" problem. When you receive a call from the administration, that they have isolated seven children in the "K" class that they plan on failing is very scary. When you begin to hear that family's were withdrawing their children, one at a time, is even scarier! When "cherry picking" begins in "K" its time to consider moving on.

I typically don't writer reviews on websites, but was inclined to do so in case other parents are considering this school for their child. I read the review that was done by a parent on February 18th, and have had a similar experience. We were told by the teacher that my child had learning issues: since we left St. Gens, my child flourished into a young bright student. The school has limited staff to address learning issues for the child. Furthermore, the class size was way too much for Kindergarten. Other things I noticed, was that they feel as if it is the responsibility of the parents to teach the child, and not the other way around. Also, I did get the feeling that they "cherry pick" the students throughout the school year, for the ones to progress into the next class. We had a very bad experience at this school.

I would like to warn potential parents that are considering this school for their children. Initially, we were impressed by the staff, and how receptive they were to us during the tour. But this turned out to be a bait and switch. What should have been the give away, was that as the grades increase the class size became smaller. Problem 1: They Informed us that there would be no more than 23 children in the K program. When our child joined the class they informed us that there would be 30 children. When asked about this, we were dismissed. It turns out that they obtain their "blue ribbon" by cherry picking the children. Towards the winter they begin to inform parents that the child has learning/attention/anger issues. This is a parish school, and has a very visible "CLICK." Buyer Beware!!!!!
