My daughter was being bullied relentlessly at a public school. After many meetings with her teachers and the vice-principal, I decided to pull her out and try Riverhill School. I was immediately impressed by the size of the school and how kind the entire staff is. But, once she settled in to second grade, I was seeing the confidence my child once had start to come back. She is now excited about going to school for learning and seeing her friends. Bullying is not tolerated in the least. But, it’s so much more than that. Riverhill School has the feeling of Family. I know my child is loved and that means everything to me.

Riverhill is focused on both academics and nurturing the students into confident, outstanding citizens. The environment cannot be beat. You are greeted with loving smiles as you walk in the front door. The teachers love teaching! I know that my children are in the best hands when I drop them off everyday. Two of my children have graduated from Riverhill and have moved into the city school system, they were completely prepared academically for all honors classes and made the transition very easily. We love Riverhill!

As a graduate and now parent of three Riverhill children, I can see that the common thread of these critical elementary years in this special school gives a strong foundation for future academic pursuits. I am always proud to see the Riverhill students in our community and in other schools being leaders and continuing to strive for excellence. I owe a great debt to the passionate educators who taught me and I now appreciate how unique the environment is in this school. For $35 per day I could think of no better investment.

We can not say enough about Riverhill. It is the best environment for children to learn. The teachers and staff work together to support the students. They learn a sense of community from an early age.

I have proudly been a Riverhill parent for 10 years and without hesitation can credit Riverhill School and their amazing teachers and staff with giving both of my children the solid scholastic foundation needed to further their education, as well as providing them with the incredible spirit of helping others, becoming community minded and working with us as parents in giving them the ability to believe in themselves! It is such a blessing to witness teachers who could easily make more money at other schools, but choose to stay at our small school because of their love and commitment to our children! The integrity and fellowship the teachers and staff have with each other as well as their students is easily seen on a daily basis. Education is the most important gift we can give our children and to be able to witness this gift in addition to the hands-on teaching environment in the classes and the mix of arts and music as well, is giving our children the most well rounded education they could have possibly been given and hope that the secret of our little school in Florence, Alabama is found by everyone in our state! We truly are blessed to be a part of the Riverhill Family!!

Riverhill School is an amazing place to learn. Students have multiple modality opportunities to learn and explore. A Blue Ribbon School, Riverhill has individual science, music, art, and foreign language teachers besides their classroom teachers. No matter what a student's interest, he/she has an opportunity to expand and nurture that interest in a superior academic environment. My granddaughter by first grade had learned about scientific experiments--hands-on, competed in a talent show, loved showing her art ability on projects, and knew many advanced vocabulary terms which she naturally used in regular conversation. Small classes add to the lure of this wonderful place to learn. I very, very, very highly recommend this school to any parents who want the most positive educational experience possible for their children.

Because of my husband's career our children attended 15 different schools including a private, international, academically excellent school. I am a full time grandparent to my grandchildren who attend Riverhill. RIverhill surpasses all of the schools with which we have been involved. It is excels in academics, including art, music and computer and in physical education. The school environment fosters well-disciplined, responsible-for-self children. The teachers and staff are devoted, creative, and compassionate without affectation. Parents willingly, gladly help in some capacity every day. It is a safe school, a happy school. My only suggestion is more time spent on foreign language if at all possible. Regardless, this is an all-round excellent school.

At Riverhill School, the teachers and staff love their jobs and their students. It is wonderful to take my children to a school with such a nurturing environment. The elementary students coming from Riverhill are well-mannered, conscientious young people who are ready to hit the ground running. This is by far the best place to begin your child's education in our area.

Riverhill school is said to be the best kept secret in Florence, AL. However it is quickly becoming no longer a secret. Riverhill students are excelling both socially and academically wherever they go. They began early with an extremely nurturing yet challenging academic environment, and blossom into confident, strong, and incredibly smart kids. Teachers love these students like their own. Thankful to have invested time and money into this fabulous school. My kids couldn't love it more!

Riverhill is the best choice. We sacrifice whatever is necessary to keep our children at Riverhill. We know from experience. We left for 2 years to try public education. We had heard that a small county school was similar to a private education. So we decided to save money we would check it out. My children were way ahead of the children in the public school, when we arrived, but soon after became average. My son did not receive the special attention he needs, and soon began doing very poorly, After deciding to return to Riverhill, it has taken a year to get back "up to pace" with the students who had stayed at Riverhill. But it is all worth it! We feel accepted by the students, the staff, and the administration. There is no where else that your children can be advanced educationally, and ENJOY learning! Our kids love school and can't wait to go everyday!

This school is off the hook! I mean between the teachers and the sweet ladies at the front desk that hug and greet every single kid that come in the door everyday, it's the greatest. i didn't get that when i was l came in the door at public school years ago. And the kid comes home saying stuff like "there's 206 bones in the human body" . I didn't know that and the kid was in the first grade! Riverhill is worth every penny.

Riverhill excels in academics, seems to be about a year ahead of other schools; and has the most well-rounded program I have encountered in Alabama. My four year old has classes in Spanish, Computer, Art, Music, library and has PE everyday! The teachers and staff go the "extra mile" everyday because they genuinely care. I also love the location in St. Florian and the security measures thy have in place.

I moved to Florence, Alabama 17 years ago for my husband's job. We knew no one in Florence at the time, and had no idea what school would be the best fit for our young children. By speaking to my pediatrician and some church friends, we learned about Riverhill, a non-denominational private school. We enrolled our daughter in the pre-K program, and immediately fell in love with the school. We started our son a few years later, and then, after having two additional children, enrolled them as soon as they were old enough to attend. Choosing Riverhill School was one of the best decisions we have made since moving to Florence. The teachers and staff at Riverhill have given my children the tools they need to be successful, driven, well-rounded, happy and confident students. Riverhill offers a rigorous core curriculum combined with creative art and music classes and an introduction to foreign language. The school also encourages the students to be independent learners and to interact with adults with confidence and poise. Both of my older children were accepted to exceptional colleges and are excellent students. Thank you, Riverhill School. Keep up the good work!

Riverhill School has been an unbelievably positive for my daughter and our entire family. The educational quality and teacher/student ratio originally drew us to the school but the loving, family-like, enriching atmosphere is what has kept us here. For me, the school is a perfect mixture of Montessori, Waldorf, and home-school influences with a strong academic focus.

Riverhill school is a wonderful family oriented educational environment! Just a few of the excellent qualities are low student to teacher ratio, challenging curriculum even at the PreK level, numerous opportunities for students to participate in extracurricular activities, great parental involvement opportunities, highly qualified teaching staff, excellent accessibility to technology, strong leadership and good communication between the school and parents. However the most important attribute is knowing that your child is educated in a caring school environment.

Our children have attended Riverhill for the past four years, and we truly can not say enough about our experience. Each and every teacher and staff member honestly do go above and beyond to ensure that their students are learning and growing in every way imaginable. Perhaps the best thing that Riverhill has going, is the sense of community. The teachers, students and parents work together at every turn to give these kids the support that they need to learn and grow. While a lot of private schools have serious issues with cliques among the kids (and sadly the parents), we have never seen this be a problem at Riverhill. There are kids who come from affluent families, sitting next to kids on scholarships and you really wouldn't have any idea which was which if you observed the classes for a day. Also, with such small classes, the teachers have the opportunity to use "outside the box" teaching methods to reinforce new ideas and make learning exciting for the kids. Overall, we are extremely pleased with Riverhill and our kids are happy and excited about learning. If you have any questions about the school, come visit for a day and see for yourself. It's a very special place!

Riverhill is Outstanding for the Student & the Family! Riverhill is learning and growing educational family. It is the type of educational institution where the faculty, staff, and students are guided by the mission of "providing a child-centered, academic environment whereby we empower our students to become informed, responsible, productive, life-long learners with solid values and positive self-images." The faculty and staff genuinely care for the student and the family. If you are considering an environment that has the right mix of academic rigor, personal accountability, and genuine care for every student, then Riverhill is the place for you!

January 14, 2013 I have taught preschool, kindergarten, second grade, fourth grade, junior high, high school, and special education. I was the Director of a pre-school . I now teach at the university level in the Elementary /Preschool Education Department and in the Psychology Department. I have known many schools, and know what quality education really is. Before my Grandson entered school, we thoroughly explored what was available. Riverhill School in Florence Alabama was the obvious choice. My Grandson is now in first grade. Preschool, kindergarten, and first grade have been wonderful experiences. The Principal, teachers, and staff as well as the curriculum are the best I ve ever seen. As a matter of fact I often use Riverhill as an example in my Educational Psychology class. Providing my Grandson with the best education possible in a safe, loving, diverse, and creative environment is a priority for our family. Riverhill exemplifies what all schools should be. We are so satisfied and my Grandson loves school. It s a joy to see him so excited about learning. Joanne Stephenson, Ed.D.

Riverhill is a phenomenal school both in terms of it's academic excellence and its nurturing, loving environment which develops students into service-oriented student leaders. As a graduate of an Ivy League school with a school-aged daughter, I had thoroughly researched top schools in California and Mississippi before I returned to my native Florence. I was astonished to find a school of this caliber in such a small town. Riverhill by far surpasses those schools, several of which were ranked among the best in the nation. The loving, caring, unpretentious, family-like environment combined with its academic rigor makes Riverhill a school that is perhaps unparalled anywhere else in the United States.

My son attended Riverhill from 1st-8th grade and my daughter currently attends Riverhill and is in the 4th grade. When my son transferred to a public school in 9th grade he had a 1/2 credit more than his classmates and many of the books he was required to read in 9th grade he had already read at Riverhill. He was challenged at Riverhill and he has not been as challenged at his current school. My daughter has done well at Riverhill too. The environment at Riverhill is like no other in our area. The teachers, administration and staff are kind, committed and qualified. Riverhill was recongnized by AISA as a Blue Ribbon School for the 2012-2013 school year! Congratulations!!
