This school is one of the worst i have been to. The students have no respect for any of their peers and will bully to thier hearts content and the staff does absolutely nothing.

This school has potential under very different leadership. The current principal is not suited for her role and should never have been assigned as Principal. I'm honestly not even sure how she is truly qualified and you can't research because there is no information about her background on the FUSD website.....unlike all of the teachers and most other administrators. She completely disrespects parents concerns and demonstrates this to her teachers who follow suite, is non responsive to concerns to bullying (both by students AND teachers), and throws her hands in the air and blames understaffing for not tamping down on inappropriate cell phone usage, yet has NO problem complaining about it! Meanwhile, the other middle school in town has an "away for the day" campaign with a zero tolerance for cell phones out during the day and they have SIGNIFICANTLY less issues. We speak first hand because we removed our child from Sinagua after one horrible year and our child is now completely thriving at the other public middle school in town! It has been a "night and day" difference. Sinagua also attempted to bring in the International Baccalaureate program, which as a graduate of the program, I was very excited about. Unfortunately, her/the lack of understanding and true dedication to the program was beyond evident when they attempted to roll it out and that they dropped from a D rated school to an F rated school. So very disappointing......perhaps if parents' thoughts and opinions that would have been taken into consideration....but we were just seen as an inconvenience there. As long as the current principal is in charge, and I say "in charge" because it is a dictatorship, there is no hope for this school. I DO have hope for the future under differently leadership. Stay away unless a new principal selected after Spring 2023.

Waaaaaaayyyy too crowded. Flagstaff needs a another public middle school. Too many kids, not enough adults, and all the problems associated with that scenario. They may get a D in the state grades, but Sinagua gets a big fat F from me.

In my experience there isn’t any positive reinforcement in this school, it is all about punishment for bad behavior, I feel as though children deserve better. I do believe the academics are good and there are tutoring resources available to children and that is a bonus. They have a political agenda happening during their rainbow club that occurs during school hours. The special education experience is probably the only positive thing that I have had with the school.

This school is terrible, it forces kids to meet expectations that they can’t meet.

Very poor and unhealthy experiences for many kids and staff. Unrealistic set ups for success for all students. It shows in the scores and in the hallways on the faces of the students and teachers alike.

As a counter to some bad ratings of Sinagua MS I offer my experiences My son has thrived and flourished in the MIT-e program offered at Sinagua MS. MIT-e is a STEM curriculum focusing on science engineering and math. He is now in the 8th grade and will be moving on to Coconino High School next year. We recently received his "ACT Explore" test scores and thus was able to see how well he is doing compared to national rankings. His composite score was in the 99 percentile ranking which means nationally he is in the upper 1% of all nationwide students who took the test. We give much credit for this good score to the teachers within the MIT-e program. One of the coolest things at Sinagua MS is the FIRST FTC Robotics team. My son's team learned how to design build and program a robot that competed in tournaments throughout the state and New Mexico. My son gravitated towards the computer programming aspect and has learned LabView and the C language and is becoming a enthusiastic programmer. What more could a parent ask for? I am left with the thought that my son is getting a good education challenged to excel and is thriving in the MIT-e program.

It's been written in other reviews so what I'm sharing is not new to the site or the parents/students of Sinagua Middle School, but the school is really struggling, the atmosphere is tense. The leadership has a sense of entitlement and intimidation.
