I've already gone through four years of this school and in that time I have witnessed a lot of really horrible things like the male P.E. teacher staring at young female students while exercising and the male P.E. teacher walking into the female locker room while they are changing there is also the instance of when making a small mistake in certain classrooms you get nothing but attitude from the staff and teachers you can do very little and in some classrooms you can't even look or be near your phone I understand not wanting your students to be distracted by their phone but if there's an emergency and your family can't contact the school to contact the student they will need their phone now yes there have been some amazing teachers who deserve the respect of their students and 90% of the time those good teachers actually get the respect they deserve but as for all the other teachers they act as if they are owed the respect of the students just because they are teachers and staff members and when they arent given the respect they think they deserve they no longer treat you like a normal person they will have a constant attitude with anyone that has not given them respect and treat them horribly just like in my experience I am the type of person who only gives my respect to people who earned it or prove that they deserve it and that was only about 4 or 5 teachers in the entire time I have ever gone to any of fernleys schools and all of the other staff and teachers I did not give my respect to have treated me like I was worth less than every other student there take for example what happened in my senior year we had ACT tests coming up and we had been preparing for a couple of weeks on what would be going on during the testing day but as soon as the day came and myself along with a friend went to follow what we were told we were stopped and met with nothing but attitude for trying to do what we had prepared to do and in returned i had given that staff member attitude for acting like that and some how that staff member is still considered one of the nicest people here while i got punished and while in my punishment "aka apep" i was doing my work all class and had been told in the middle of the day to turn my computer and when i failed to completely do it i was asked again but the computer hit the wall on accident and was treated with nothing but attitude for a mistake so i than gave them attitude back and was punished again without being able to explain

My experience as a parent of Fernley High School was awful. Unless your child is a star athlete, stay as far away as possible. Pay out of pocket for private schooling or even home school your child. This is the worst school that Lyon County offers and knowing now what my son and daughter went through, I wish I would have moved to Reno. LCSD should be ashamed of themselves. No wonder Fernley has a problem with youth discipline and suicide rates. If you absolutely must use this high school, don't use the teachers I mentioned negatively.

The dress code is getting out of hand. I understand no spaghetti straps ect., I also understand the two finger strap rule. Now it's no sleeveless tops. They must be at least cap sleeves. Even in the sixies, it was considered appropriate to wear short sleeve shirts. At 80 or 90 degrees the only thing on those kids minds is how hot they are.. While after much effort, the latest policy of having to have sweater type coverings over your prom and winterfest dresses was changed just in time. . Modesty certainly is appreciated but antiquated dress codes are just plain silly . On the other hand the school in general is pretty good. Good school spirit. The prinicpal is great and some of the vice principals are wonderful, as well as a large group of the teachers. Not allowing hugging between your friends on shcool grounds is silly. I do understand they don't want kids making out on the grounds, but a hand slap or a quick hug with your girl or boyfriend and is not offensive as far as I can tell. A lot of the teachers are fantastic. Others have a problem s with communication. The many events offered at school helps with the camaraderie between the teachers, kids and parents. .
