We love this school. My son has grown so much in 7 months academically and sociallly. The staff who work there truly seem to love what they do, from the academics to the extras like basketball games, the arts show, dance, legos club, trips, and concert. The school celebrates the kids with all of the regular school activities I did not know if my son would get to experience being a special needs child out of district. Banyan also celebrated their 30th Anniversary with a carnival with games, bouncy activities, food trucks, and sweets Classes sizes are small, so my son has been able to progress so much since he started 7 months ago. He has become a much more fluent reader and his comprehension has improved so much, where i feel like we can enjoy our time together without having to do work with him at home. It really has been a godsend, and everytime I go there, I am smiling from ear to ear seeing the joy in the kids and staff.

After struggling in our home district for 6 years, my son, who has Cortical Visual Impairment, visited Banyan School and knew this was the school for him. The small class sizes and the dedicated teachers have made a world of difference. For a child with this type of disability, it has been critical to have teachers who are willing to talk to me and his private tutors to develop a coordinated approach to advance my son's learning. He reading skills have advanced 2 grade levels in a year. In addition to his academic growth, my son's confidence has improved. He loves to attend school! When talking to my son's private tutor, she indicated that her only regret was that we didn't find Banyan sooner!

I can't say enough about Banyan. My son has been a student for 2 years and he has blossomed. The small class sizes coupled with a truly loving staff makes the right combination. You feel the warmth and school spirit by just walking the hallways Props go out to mr camp in social studies, mr Rick in counseling and social skills, ms schenfeld in /reading, ms Michel in science and ms Wilson in math. These are just se of the teachers that my son constantly talks about The student body is diverse comprising mostly of children with learning disabilities without the behavioral issues. The have a school basketball for all levels plus they offer social activities for students on Saturdays. I highly recommend the school If you have any questions please call My cell and ask for Jeff 983-981-1937

I wrote a review in May 2011 and commented that the speech therapy could be stronger. In September 2011, the school made changes and the quality of speech therapy has greatly improved,. The new therapist does oral motor exercises and has a creative and effective approach for language development as well. Banyan can now better accommodate children with speech and language challenges.

I have struggled for many years to find the right school for my son, and Banyan was the only place that provided everything that I was looking for; an entire faculty who are more than willing to communicate with parents, a curriculum that suited my son, a fabulous PTO that includes family outings, and extra programs not found in other schools. My son is finally attending a school where he is accepted and understood.
