I wish I could give more than 5 stars! My non-verbal autistic son attends kindergarten here and I’ve been overwhelmed by the support and care we receive. From the bus drivers, the special needs teachers, the speech therapist, the class room teacher and TAs, this school is outstanding. My son loves school and we are thrilled with his progress. He has friends, and the other kids are kind and inclusive.

This school negatively impacted my child's self-esteem. As a student of color and with a learning disability he was bullied, criticized, punished and ostracized by his teacher. His teacher refused to recognize his learning difficulties, calling him lazy, inattentive, and slow when he couldn't complete a task in the time allotted, then punishing him by taking away recess and sending his work home for completion. Asking for help from administration was useless, they worked together to protect this 2nd grade teacher. After speaking with other parents I realized this teacher had been bullying students for years, while the administration turned a blind eye. We placed our child at a different school and already notice a difference in self confidence.

I also went to Wawaloam and had Mrs Cash for my second grade teacher And Mrs Mosca for my third grade teacher. They were great teachers and help me greatly. Leading me to have an excellent academic career and excelling in school with all A’s & B’s through out all of my schooling even in high school. I received and academic scholarship based on my GPA over the years, and the difficulty of the classes I took.

Wawaloam is a gem of a school. Mrs. Marino is a fantastic principal who goes above and beyond to provide leadership and guidance to her staff and parents. She sets very high standards and always abides by them, herself. Children at the school are well-behaved and focused on learning, and the warm and loving staff and teachers are absolutely amazing. Children are cherished and yet firm expectations are set and consistently enforced; as a result, they excel in their learning and thrive at this school. Three of our children attended Wawalaom, and all three had the best experiences and happy memories there. Kudos to all!

I just love Wawaloam School! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming for both students and parents. The staff are great - engaged, dedicated, enthusiastic, and loving. My daughter had such a wonderful experience. Learned a lot and loved going to school. They have a wonderful behavior program, The Wawaloam Wannabes, that uses positive reinforcement to teach being responsible, being respectful, and being safe. The principal and office staff are outstanding, as is the school nurse. Can't say enough good things!
