My son is in Kindergarten here and we are very pleased with the school. His teachers are amazing, specifically his main teacher. The principal is very involved and he is constantly checking in with us to ensure that we are still happy. For the first time, my son loves school and learning. He does have an IEP and everyone from teachers, to speech therapist to admin are all working together to ensure that he is thriving. I cannot recommend this school enough!

We love Harper! Great teachers/staff working together to create a loving environment where kids can learn.

My son attended Harper for 4 years. I felt he received a great education that prepared him well for middle school. He was treated respectfully by teachers and principal. I was pleased with his experience there and would not hesitate to send him there again.

I am not at all surprised to hear these bad reviews. I have two boys. My oldest is finally exiting the awful place. My youngest has 3 more years to go:( I would pull him out if it wasn't for the convenience of living right next door. There is not enough extra help given to the students that need it. I also agree w/ the fact that the principal is an awful woman that speaks awfully to the children. I have caught her on several occasions talking to them like dogs. The teachers yell at the students and literally scream shut-up in the hallways, (another upsetting event that I've witnessed often.) There are only a handful of teachers at Harper that you can trust with you're children. My oldest went there for 5 years, trust me I know what I'm talking about. Do not choose this School for your child. They will not be happy, you will not be happy. They will decline fast, unless you become the teacher and do their jobs for them. Regarding after school activities, the very few they do have gets old. They need something more fun and encouraging. I mean lets face it our children get bored of the same o same o, and there is nothing wrong with that. I think I covered most. Good luck! :)

Horrid school. I have two kids in, one 3rd and the other 1st. The 3rd grade teacher completely ignores the instruction of the school counselor. We have even set up programs for my son's ADD and she refuses to follow them. Nor does she have the student's write homework assignments in the agenda book! WHATS THE POINT IN US PAYING FOR THAT BOOK?! Instead, she verbally tells students the homework and then expects 8 and 9 year olds to remember and then do it?! Seriously? And when we report it to the principal, she does nothing either?! No wonder this school is ranked so low.

My daughter went here for two years. If you have a choice, go somewhere else. The principal is a horrid lady, lacking the proper qualifications to be a principal.

my son was at harper k-3rd grade , and i am so glad to be leaving this school . it is one of the worst run schools in the city , the teachers are unhappy and the students are not treated very well , and principal is all about herself , she thinks nothing of the parents and the kids . and she will allow the teachers to call parents thiefs , but when you pay for something at the school and dont get it ,that is ok . would think that would make them a thief. would home school before i would ever take my child back to that school.
