This school nearly ruined our son and made our family homeless. I reached out to the chief of staffing for help. From there I was able to transfer our son of of Dexter, get a 504 plan in order, and the therapist at his new school helped us to get a diagnosis for our son. At Dexter our son was suspended every week, sometimes twice a week. Because of this I went through 8 jobs in 1 year. What's even worst is that our son wanted to hurt himself because he felt that he was worthless. Do not send your child here, please!

Dexter is a great school! The teachers and staff use many strategies to help students achieve at all varying academic levels and have implemented a behavior program that focuses and rewards positively. It is a wonderful place to learn about diversity and culture and to make new friends. They also have several after-school program options to encourage students to become more a part of the school community. My family has been a part of Dexter for years and have only positive results!

School: dress code, netbooks in elementary, Teachers, bullies, No real control through discpline.-put this all together and you have a real opportunity to complain about this or that...IF YOU AREN'T THERE EVERYDAY". dress code - ? how much did the avg. parent spend on other clothes, esp. shoes? Netbooks - good? If the teachers are supported from parents to use them other than electronic baby sitters, but ratter learning tools. Teachers? You should change jobs for one day with a teacher!!!! You may have one or two but they have 15 - 30 each day. You may be able to keep your child in the house and away from everyone else YOU don't like, but they can't always do that!!! AND NOW - Discipline isn't (ain't) what it used to be. May be if you would encourage more parents to sign the papers to allow supervised "spanking" for their children, ( still allowed with the proper signing, and do some corrective discipline at home rather than just letting them tell you what they are going to do, things might be different. Kids might even graduate each school building with a chance to make it in LIFE. You think what you will, but try to really, I MEAN REALLY, GET INVOLVED. just sayin'

I think the new dress code is not right.......They should be able to wear what they want as long as it's appropriate. kids need to be kids, there not in private school. I think it's just wrong, And by the way walmart wants 15.00 for ONE shirt..that you want them to wear. To me that is just to much when your on a budget.. It's stupid to make them wear uniforms. It's not right

I have two kids that go here and all I have gotten was Bullies and one of my children seeing a Doctor because my child is having a hard time with students and teachers. I feel there is lack in teaching and a lack in punishing the children who harm other childrens learning. It is har for my children to make frends because of groups who pick on them. The teachers I have had for both my kids only two have tried to care. I want to pull my kids out so bad, but since I live here there arent anymore options really. I will look into Private schools soon.
