If I could give it no stars I would. The staff lacks communication and is very disrespectful. Would not recommend to anyone. Take your kid somewhere else

Everyone I have come into contact with including the school “cop” is RUDE. I would not recommend this school to anyone looking for a friendly environment to become a part of.

After reading the negative comments, I have to chuckle. My son has attended this school K thru 5th & my daughter K thru 2nd now. I have never experienced the problems mentioned. First of all, they run the car rider line, like a boss! You DO have to have an ID tag. Anytime my son has had a problem with another student, I've been notified. The teachers have always handled it appropriately. The one time I had an ongoing problem with a teacher, the principal handled it immediately with no push back to me, the parent. In fact, I would say they are very parent friendly. If the office gave someone they didn't know, calling in asking questions about how the car rider line is ran... good for them. They shouldn't give that info out to a complete stranger calling in. It's called good operational security. My kids thrive here & if they complain I check it out & realize my kids have been making a mountain out of a mole hill or have been wrong themselves! It's a great school. Communication is key, if you want more info, schedule a parent teacher conference. They are always quick to accommodate. There is no perfect school, no perfect teacher & no perfect kid. If you are seeking perfection you won't find it, but Lewiston is as close as it gets for a public school. The only thing that makes me ever think of going private is for my personal belief system being taught in school in relation to History & Science. Oh & the comment about the gym teachers/class. My kids love PE. In fact, I received a call from the nurse that my son had just vomited with no fever & did not want to leave school because he hadn't had PE yet. Seriously! That's how much he loves it!

My child has attended Lewiston since kindergarten and she is in 2nd grade now. It has been absolutely wonderful. The population has skyrocketed since we've been there but the quality of the education has not suffered. My children have been blessed with wonderful and caring teachers who have prepared them way about standard. The administration is very approachable and hands on. We love Dr. Doolittle and Mrs. Allen! The PTO has helped to purchase a lot of technology for the classrooms and I know my kid has loved using it. There are plenty of volunteer oportunities to be involved in, which I enjoy..They in courage Moms, and Dads to be very involved in the school. Watch Dogs "Dads of Great Students" is awesome to try to encourage more male role volunteer with in the school. The teachers that do the car rider line they are AWESOME! It is the safest I have seen! These teachers memorize faces, and cars for each child. We also have a car tag that hangs on the mirror with your child's name and grade. I can say whole heartedly that EVERY TEACHER we have come in contact with loves and cares for all the students education and wellness at Lewiston. We moved to this county for the school system and hand picked Lewiston. We are very confident that it was the best decision for our children and our family.

Clearly above the rest! From the academics to the extra curricular activities, including advanced art and chorus, this program is top-notch. We have two children who've been enrolled over the last three school years, covering 1st through 5th and each grade has challenged our kids while delivering exemplary education. My daughter is in their advanced 'horizons' program and my son tests in 98% nationally in math. Couldn't be happier with correspondence from teachers and with my wife and I both being military, I always get reminded that they support the troops. My wife was even asked to become a boardmember at the school and her time serving on that board has been productive and informative. Knowing parent in the county with children enrolled at other schools - I can attest that the learning at Lewiston is at a superior level.

After enduring three years at Riverside Elementary School, where the principal is useless and the teachers are not at all concerned with challenging the children and letting them get ahead in school, LES has proven to be a breath of fresh air. The teachers care about the children and provide them with many opportunities to excel. It is amazing that two schools in Columbia County can be so different!

I can honestly say every time I take or pick my child up from school the car line is very organized and safe. I also had a bullying issue and Dr. Doolittle addressed the problem right away. I have 3 children that have attended Lewiston Elementary. In my opinion it is the best elementary school around! And now Ms. Allen is there as Assistant Principal and she is awesome as well!

the car line is extremely dangerous they have no organizational skills at all. They do not look out for the kids safety at all very disappointing. My daughter is constantly bullied and the teachers do nothing about it . My daughter can raise her hand for 15 minutes before she's called on to go pee if a child needs to go the bathroom they tell him to wait. The PE Is ran like drill sergeants they don't care about the children or about encouraging them they just want their testing scores so they can get money money money that's all the schools about is money. I will take her out this year and I will never seen her back beware beware

My son is in first grade and has Mrs. Alexander and I could not be any more thrilled for such an excellent teacher for my son. Her teaching styles are wonderful and she always communicates and keeps in contact with me if I ever have any questions or concerns. You can tell she genuinely cares for her students! The faculty are great and Lewiston is just an overall wonderful educational experience for my boy!

I love Lewiston Elementary School. While I was in the military, I have never had any trouble communication with Teachers, issues. Parents who complain perhaps need to make more of an effort to communicate, for example scheduling an appointment with the teacher; after all you are the parent. You can call, email for attend student/teacher conferences. You have every right to go down there see what is going on. This is at any school your child attends. The curriculum seems to be challenging for my children and they work with children who are both gifted and who need extra help. I would recommend this school.

I give this school 1 star only because it does not allow 0 stars. Most horrible school for military families as the entire staff turns their nose up at military children. It's not the students you have to worry about bullying your kids it's the Principal. If you are not a stay at home parent who constantly participates at the school they treat your children horrible. Dr. Doolittle will tell you one thing to your face then immediately talk about you behind your back. Report Bullying and the school turns it around to make it seem as if it were your child. I do not recommend this school to anyone!

I absolutely love LES. The new assistant principal is awesome. She is very concerned about our children and their education. Dr. Doolittle is always available when I need him. I have a boy and girl that both go to LES. We have never had a problem!

Lewiston Elementary in Evans, GA is a wonderful school! This is the only Elementary school my grandsons have attended and the entire family loves it and the teachers. All the staff are so friendly, so are the lunchroom workers and they make some fantastic lunches! As a grandparent, I love to eat there with my grandson, one is attending Evans, now. I just had pizza with my youngest grandson Monday and enjoyed it so much. The salad was great! Oh, and let me comment on the cleanliness of the school, especially, the lunchroom! Thanks for everything! And I love Mrs. Huff and so does Wesley!!!! Wesley Eubanks, grandmother...Barbara Herrin

This school plays strict with parents for anything small, like paying befor/afters-school before friday every week, if not you get hit with a $10penalty, or if you lose the envelope, you need to pay $1 to get another, but yet when parents want to request certain interest such as reporting bullying, they do not obey by their own policies. There is a three strike you're out rule, where if a child is caught bullying another child three times they will make child leave the school. My daughter has been bullied several times, where the teacher was aware and never reported it to me nor the principle. I came to find out through my daughter and witnessing the same child bullying my daughter in a school event. luckily, the other child's parents where there and I was able to express my concerns, they were never notified about the incident either. Parents be very careful! They do not encourage parents to get involved in anything unless is volunteering or raising money for the school.

We just moved here and I love this school and my children love this school. The car rider pick up line is very well maintained and safe. They teachers do a great job taking care of 100 kids waiting to be picked up by car, plus they keep the bus and car riders on opposite sides of the building. Children this age are old enough to know who should be picking them up and they wouldn't even be outside waiting to be picked up unless they are a car rider. We have had excellent communication with the teachers who also informed us that our children are a little bit behind, but we are working on getting them caught up and the teachers have gone out of their way to be helpful with the process. Everyone in the office is very friendly and courteous. I can't believe anyone would rate this school lower than 4 stars, this is a wonderful school!!

I have 3 kids at Lewiston and this is our 3rd year there. Every teacher we've had has been very caring and attentive to our children. I find that the teachers are perfectly willing to let me come into the class to visit or volunteer at anytime.

My children do not attend this school and they will never step foot into it. Right now my children attend South Columbia which I love. We are in the process of buying a house which is zoned for Lewiston. After reading the comments from this website and being concerned about the lack of concern for checking ID's when someone picks up a child there, I called the school. The person I spoke with was very rude, abrupt, and noncaring. I asked what the procedure is for car riders. She said they call the child to the car. You don't have to have any type of paper in your dashboard or anything, they just trust the kids know who they're allowed to ride with. I asked the lady, so if there is someone that has been abusive to the child and is not allowed to pick up the child, such as a father, they could pull up and tell you the child's name and you would let them go with him with no questions asked? She said yes, we just have to trust the child knows who they can go with. I said so a 5 year old should be responsible for this instead of the adults at the school. She said yes and the only thing I can suggest if you don't like that is let them ride the bus. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!

My son attended Lewiston this past year for Kindergarten and it was exceptional! He learned so much and I was very happy with his education. I will agree, that there is a lack of communictaion between teacher and parents to some degree. Since there is a teacher aide in the classroom, much parent participation is not needed. However, in grades 1-5 I know they rely more on parent involvement within the classroom. I am sending my daughter this year for Kindergarten too and willl have 2 kids at Lewiston!
