This school has had fundamental flaws when it comes to educating our children. There is a reason my 5 and 6 year old have cried not to have to go back after only attending for 2 1/2 weeks. From being top students in Florida and loving their school and teachers to being put in uniforms in an attempt to put them into a conforming unit. My little ones mean the world to me and after reading the school rule book, they state that education is the main focus. The problem with that statement is that the word "discipline" is mentioned at least 6 times more then the word 'education'. I don't care if this school is rated A+. What I care about is if the teachers genuinely care for the students and love them like parents, making their first years memorable in a positive way. I'd take a C school over an A school any day as long my children enjoy going, make friends, love their teachers and are proud to say what school they go to. I understand that sometimes the good has to suffer for the bad, however, that shouldn't become a tradition. The results should be measured not only by the results of their grades but also by the level of happiness of the parents and the students as well.

My family moved back to La. only 6 weeks ago. I have 2 kids in Eunice Ele. One in 4th & 1 in K. They NEVER knew what a detetion was until there 4th day at this school. They cry not to have to go because they fear they will get an answer wrong on their homework and get publicly humiliated by their teachers, get detetions again, get MORE punishwork, or get threatened to be taken away from their home because they get sick and miss a day of school. My kids dont want to be back at home in La. anymore. This school has made them miserable and treats them unfairly. All this in only 6 weeks and that includes Christmas break. Detention for a 5 year old who got checked in by Mom only 5 minutes late isnt teaching any lesson except that the school has the authority to mistreat your child and Mom and Dad can get arrested. (as stated by the secretary many times) AND NO I still havent been involved in anything at the school except for signing detention slips and taking threats to be reported to the CPS and DA due to not having a doctors note for the 1 missed day.

I have two children that attend Eunice Elem. and I can not say enough positive things about the teachers and all staff members. In my opinion, I can't imagine a better elementary school for my kids. The A/R program is such a great motivation for our kids to WANT to read and have fun doing it. GREAT job Mrs. Trosclair~Keep up the good work!
