We love Cherrelyn for our three kids. The staff are so supportive.

Both our children go to this school. My daughter is now going into 4th grade and my son will be in 2nd grade. We love this school and have appreciated the changes they have made to really prioritize student learning and development. It has undergone some dramatic changes recently including a ballot measure to increase funding but the new building and new staff have been able to really foster a positive learning environment for all levels of students. We love the diversity, we love their openness and communication, and we love the community that continues to evolve. The school and the community are relatively small and that lends itself to a better level of involvement from all stakeholders. Our daughter is on a "talented and gifted" type track and prefers a traditional academic setting so they have given her tons of support. Alternatively, our son prefers more activities outside the classroom and they've been able to integrate active styles of learning for him. Overall, especially through the pandemic, the school and the district have been incredible.

My experience at this school was horribly degrading to my children with Developmental Disabilities. They did not help with an IEP, that my children had received through the Englewood School District (at Maddox). Had I not been an advocate for my kids, my daughters schedule would be 7:40-11:00pm. I am very thankful to the School District for assisting in finding a replacement school for my children; in which they are now thriving at. Hopefully all issues are worked out as this was when they first opened up in 2019.

Our family and I moved here from another state and if I had to compare between the school from the previous state we lived in and now this school I will tell you that this school truly takes time with the children to really help them with the areas that they need help with and they really try their hardest. I love this school!!

I have two children at Cherrelyn and both are doing extremely well. The Kindergarten teacher is phenomenal and is the reason why I chose to send my children to this school. The other teachers are also proving to be very skilled as well. I love that this is a small school and it is easy to get to know the teachers and administration. The facility is worn, however, that will soon change with the new school being built in 2018.

Cherrelynn Elementary is a Fantastic school! It's a smaller school with attentive teachers, staff & cares about the community! We've had nothing but a wonderful experience :-)

The leadership of this school leaves much to be desired. She seems friendly but hasn't demonstrated the ability to take to Cherrelyn to a higher level. If anything, the school has regressed under her watch. The staff is a mixture of experienced veterans and untested young people. They all seem earnest in their efforts, but I've witnessed them passing failing students up the line, leaving another colleague to provide remedial teaching for concepts children should have already learned. The specials teachers, specifically the P.E. teacher, the art teacher, the music teacher and the computer lab proctor, seem to have their stuff together. The school itself is a woefully inadequate facility. The largest common area serves as the cafegymatorium, providing space for physical education, lunch and special programming, including serving as a venue for the before and after school program. The cafegymatorium often reeks of the stench of spoiled milk. There is an unwelcome uncleanliness about much of the school, as I've often picked up litter inside the building and on the grounds. The outdoor playground equipment is worn and, in some cases, very unsafe for especially young children.

Cherrelyn offers a great community feel. The children and the teachers connect well with one another. The principle is really nice. She may not always have a minute right then to talk to you, but if you work with her and the office, time will be made. Sadly, I think most of the complaints made in these reviews could be solved with more parent envolvement. As a parent who has both been the drop and go, and the volunteer and help sort, if you can participate in the school, experience is better. They are working on improving state test scores, but also, working to ensure the kids understand. I have noticed from personal experience with my own children currently attending, that they don't wait for the kids to fall behind before they have an intervention, rather they try to catch the students back up prior to them failing. Overall, as with any school you receive what you put forth into it,

All three of our kids love this school, in fact our oldest has done better here then at field elementary! The teachers here care and really work with the kids and parents

Very disappointed, especially in the administration. The principal is cold and anti-social, she will find just about any excuse possible to avoid sitting down with a parent to discuss any issue. Additionally, it appears the admin is more concerned with keeping teacher salaries in check than they are in keeping strong teachers on staff. Some very well respected teachers were non-renewed and replaced with teachers right out of college this past year, and with such low scores and students below grade level, how can you afford to not have strong teachers on staff? All in all, Cherrelyn is a mediocre school with poor administrative leadership.

Speechless- just speechless. Unpleasant experiences caused my family to find a different district to call home.
