Alpha Charter has made great strides in improvement over the last three years, though they had growing pains as a new school they have greatly developed the facilitator to teacher ratio, increased the number of sports offered and were granted the WASC accreditation this year for five years, from what I understand that is the longest and best rating. The baseball team won their Section championship in their first year in the league. This is a small school but my student thrived and I am looking forward to the focus on high school. students learn differently, but the combination of the Jerry Manuel Foundation and the Alpha Charter ideas and staff are a diamond for our family.

This is an unfortunate tale of a wonderful idea failing because of facilitation. Potential parents must be aware that this school does not have any full time credentialed instructors. They utilize retired annuitants who sparingly split time with tutoring and workshops. The regular curriculum used is online and does not appear to currently have a-g approval. Alpha Charter does not have an approved UC a-g course list, WASC Accreditation nor is it NCAA approved. CIF only approved it as an Associate Member, which means Alpha Charter cannot compete for championships in sports. It boasts a baseball magnate program that focuses on disadvantaged youth without proper counseling in place. Students find themselves having to repeat courses because the online courses are not recognized at California Universities. If your student is not interested in attending college or satisfied with junior college then this school is barely acceptable. If your student simply wants a high school diploma, this will work for them. If your student is a Scholar Athlete with the goal of attending college and will apply for scholarships, do not come to Alpha Charter School. Too many negatives for my child!
