Great school. My kids are learning three languages that will help them in the global community. They have an amazing opportunity!

I have a daughter here and another that has already graduated, my experience has been very good. Their dual language helps them to know not only another language but other cultures

Excepcional! Dual language and codeing! One of the first schools in the nation to provide this model of education! Recognized as a California distinguished school! Couldn’t be prouder of this school. I have 2 kids that have been attending since kindergarten when this school opened. Our principal is amazing and very passionate about this school!

This school does not support students with disabilities well. You are encouraged to move your child to another school, ostensibly to get rid of students who may affect the ability of the school to score high on state standardized testing. The school will place blame on the students ability in Spanish, even if your child excels at Spanish during private tutoring. During my full day observation of the classroom, I saw a child (not mine) who appeared to have some attention difficulties but was always 100 percent compliant with the teacher and completing the activities even when not sitting in their designated spot on the carpet. When their parent came to pick them up, the teacher told the parent the child was out of control all day. I was shocked. Yes, sometimes they got distracted but their child was always compliant. This was a Kindergarten class. I wish I'd chased after the parent to tell them the truth. Additionally, there appears to be a divide between parents who are English speaking only and those who are Spanish speaking only. Bilingual parents can effectively navigate between both groups but it's an interesting dynamic among the parents.

This is my family's second year at this school and we feel very fortunate to be here. My son is entering 2nd grade in the fall and my daughter will be starting TK. From the first meeting (orientation) I felt very excited to learn about the language academy. I wanted my children in a dual language program and what we have is so much more than I ever dreamed for them. From coding to chess to the schools approach to a multicultural bilingual education we are so grateful to be a part of this amazing school. I attend as many of the school activities and volunteer as much as I can and watch the interactions between the teachers and students as well as staff members (I have experience working in other schools) and it is obvious to me that the teachers are passionate about their work and genuinely care for the children. The language academy is only 2 years running and the team from principal Mrs. Jacobo to Ms Cathy the lunch lady know all the kids by name and are doing an amazing job providing a welcoming and inclusive environment that embraces not only the students, but their families.. I highly recommend this school for families looking for a school that is challenging as well as nurturing and inclusive... It has been very rewarding experience and I look forward to many more years at Bostonia and am excited to see all of the wonderful things and people my children will continue to experience. Gracias

This school is amazing. I love how my son is learning Spanish and at such a early age it will help him in the long run.

I applied for an out of district transfer so my kids could go to this school. I am so thankful I did. My son starts next year and my daughter is just wrapping up her second year at Bostonia. She is thriving and looks forward to school every day. I know this is because she has excellent and caring teachers and staff that are supported by outstanding leadership. My daughter didn't speak Spanish before attending the school and now I can confidently say she is bilingual. Not only that, she loves the Spanish language and her English literacy is improving even though she is mostly reading and writing in Spanish during the day. The school has truly provided a space for kids to become multilingual and multiliterate. I am proud to be a Bostonia parent.

We all have choice in where we send our students, and I very intentionally chose this school because I believe in the staff and leadership. Most teachers served students in our school district in other bilingual programs and are philosophically and passionately committed to developing well-rounded, multi-lingual students. Teachers new to the program are well-supported. My student can be a challenging personality. He is always communicated with in a respectful way, expectations are clear, and I receive timely communication about his education and all information/events at school. They are doing a great job and getting better by the day.

We had a terrible experience at this school. We were told that their program would work with our son who was entering 1st grade coming from a traditional school for Pre-K and Kindergarten. We were very excited about the program. He ended up being the only one with no Spanish background in the class. Our son, who at his previous school always tested high in academics and had never had any behaviorial problems was suddenly being sent home with behavior slips every day the second week of school. When I called to talk with the teacher, I was told that my had major behavioral issues and didn't know how to follow directions. All instruction was in Spanish and he had no idea what she was saying! There was absolutely no support from the teacher and school leadership when we asked for help and how we could ease the transition. We ended up going back to his previous school where he is excelling and has had no behavioral "problems" as he was labeled at Bostonia.

Overall, I'm happy to have my kids at this school. They are learning Spanish and that's more than I could have asked for.

We love this school, the program and the staff. My daughter is doing very well at the school. Our family is very grateful that we found BLA. My daughter loves reading and writing in Spanish as well as English. My son who is younger is very excited to be starting next year.

My daughter started kindergarten this year at Bostonia Language Academy and she is thriving. She is surrounded by caring educators and other families that value bilingualism and biliteracy. My daughter has progressed significantly in the Spanish language in a matter of months. She loves to read in Spanish and English at home now! My husband and I are thankful that we found Izela and BLA when we moved to San Diego this past year.

This school is repulsive. Since being "forced" to migrate to the Bostonia Language Academy, due to the district/superintendent thinking this was a good idea, even though all children at different schools in the East County had been adapting to their class mates and environment for the last 3 years. Never mind the Bostonia children and Teachers being displaced with NO notice. If this was not enough, they chose the absolute worst person to run, or should i say micromanage the school and teachers in every aspect. First, don't expect to EVER see graded homework. And you probably should take your child to have their vision checked after attending this school due to the enormous amount of time spent on the computers. If that is not enough, you may want to check your child's attendance record as that is more than likely being altered. Not sure how my children received perfect attendance when they clearly missed a week of school due to the flu. Do not expect to see smiles from anyone but the principal, who is probably smiling because she has successfully manipulated an entire district and remaining staff into believing she is so awesome. The whole program that originally began in 2012 was completely wiped out. Don't try to express a concern because you will have the whole school/staff talking behind your back. The motto there is, if you don't like it then door let the door hit you in the @$%$. Several teachers have resigned since the start of this in 2015 and several students have left the school Including my two children. One of which was successful in learning Spanish since K for 3 years. However this last year, there was nothing but regression and problem after problem, missing homework, constant complications, so as a result we had to abandon Spanish and move to an English only school. Oh ya, and get ready for your child to start to adapt to middle school because the principal has implemented 3 teachers for each student. Don't bother trying to communicate to your teacher there could be a week wait, or no response at all. Its redunkulous. Id give this school zero stars if I could. The whole program has become East County's set up to fail. Id steer clear from this mess, unless of course you don't care about your child's academics and future success.

I recently went to an informational meeting about the school for new incoming students. The principal didn't seemed to concerned with answering parent concerns or questions about the school/program. Did not make me feel comfortable sending my kid there. We are looking for a new school

The dual language program is an absolute joke. Kids sit on computers all day long and when they don't understand something they are told to use Google translate. 6 teachers have resigned this year alone. The leadership is lacking and the overall dysfunction is a joke. The children don't even have a library with Spanish books. There is no direction at this school steer clear unless you want your child being instructed by a computer all day. The teachers are literally just watching the kids work on computers. Graded work is very rarely sent home so it's impossible to truly track progress.

This is not a traditional dual language program. Places like Riverview and EJE are a better bang for your language buck. This place is a joke. They use Rosetta Stone to teach kids Spanish and have no Spanish books. They admit kids at all grade levels even though they claim they don't. The program is four years old in the district and first year at this school site in the ghetto.

I do believe the 5th grade teachers at this school did a wonderful job when it comes to my son that was diagnosed with ADD when he was in third grade. I believe that the staff work along with me when it came to my sons situation; due to their hard work and dedication to students learning my son was placed in Honors English 6 and Honors Math 6 also. Thank you Bostonia!

I think Bostonian was a wonderful school. I attended there from kindergarten to 6th ggrade. I adored all my teachers and staff.. but of course that was between 1990 and 1996. I'm sure half of the teachers arn't there anymore. I would love to send my children there if I ever move back into that area.
