My son struggled with many teachers in private daycare. At daycare the response felt more like a threat that he better behave or else. Everyone acknowledged he was performing well-above his grade level but wouldn’t accommodate to keep him challenged to avoid boredom. When he came to DCES his first couple teachers and principal worked with us to create an action plan: we felt optimistic. Then in 2nd grade a crucial coupling of him and Ms. Hope Brown was everything he needed. She was a blessing to us and, under her support, our son earned countless Antler Way awards and joined the Gifted and Talented program. Thank you to everybody at DCES - especially Ms. Brown - for motivating and developing a child who might’ve been wasted elsewhere.

It is a fantastic school as my daughter is doing grade 2. She never complaints about the school, the staff, and her friends. She always loves to go school.

As a parent I am disappointed. What I hear some teachers do (from my child's friends) and act, scares me. The way the front staff handles issues or parents concerns (always to their advantage or their way) leaves a lot to be desired from a professional.

The principal at this school has no idea of what is developmentally appropriate for early childhood. It's disheartening and unfair to the children.

This school has everything going for it; teachers who care, staff who go the extra mile, and parents who participate. The only problem is a big one and it's Common Core. If they implement Common Core, the teachers might as well be replaced with robots, because you can't teach you will just be facilitating what Washington DC wants your children to repeat.

Do not recommend this school, have a preschooler who goes here and everything about the school is very unorganized. Little pre-schoolers and kindergartens are getting trampled by older students on pick up and drop off. Office staff seems not to care and are ignorant to their surroundings. Parents are scrabbling all over the place pushing and shoving.

Great school! Fab teachers. I have a 1st grader and a 4th grader in this school. Is our 1t year here and my kids have met great people.
