Principal Dunne and her team navigated McVey Elementary through some very difficult years during COVID. More importantly, they kept our school open far longer than most schools were able to manage and remote learning was as good as it could be. I am very grateful for her support through some difficult issues and for the great work that the majority of the teachers achieve for their students. Parents are very involved and it is a model school for a community standard.Thank you Ms. Dunne, Mr. Minerva and the great teachers there. I have a son that is well prepared and went to 6th grade and another son that is currently at McVey. We moved to East Meadow for our boys to have a better education in a safe and warm environment and we are not disappointed!

This school was great. I have 4 kids, 3 oldest kids attended McVey, and the youngest one goes to Meadowbrook for special education. The teachers at McVey truly cares for their students, they let parents know which area(s) does your child struggle with so you can tackle it. There were extra helps in the early morning, usually it's two days/week unless the teachers has meeting then the extra help would be cancelled. The extra help focus on ELA and math, but sometimes Science when there's a science test comes up (my daughter's3rd grade offers it). My oldest daughter graduated McVey with honors, she got Robert Wiebel (I hope I spelled it right lol) and state assembly awards, and is now an 8th grade honor student at Woodland Middle School. Thanks to McVey teachers. McVey Mighty MindsMy second daughter in 3rd grade was a slow learner, and looses her foundations for not practicing a lot when she was young, so she's struggling a lot. Now she went to extra help, Kumon (just for 2 months now), and I also homeschool her on the weekends. She's showing improvement gradually, so I hope it will go well for her. My third daughter in first grade is showing good progress in reading, an area that she's struggling with at the beginning. So far she's doing great. Thanks to the teacher offering extra help for fundations and the literacy program.

I was treated very rude by the secretary . She wouldn't allow me to talk and then wouldn't even tell me how to pronounce the principals name. It was very degrading I just hope she doesn't treat everyone like that. I know she thought I was trying to sell something but I am not I am only trying to help the school earn extra money.

As a family this McVey has been a wonderful experience. Our daughter loves the school, teacher and classmates. I always feel informed and Principal and Vice Principal are a great duo. This school offers a veriety of extra activities that other schools lack with special programs like music and art. One of the best school ratings for math and science in Long Island.
