Very very cold people, my child was bullied and overly punished for having a cell phone one through out the entire year. Children or one child in particular has disruptive behaviors everyday (literally) but my child who has never been in trouble and is an all A student is seen with her cell phone once and was jumped by 3 teachers and then given in school suspension. Not a warning. My child cried and cried so much. Then one time I receive an email because she was sucking her thumb in class, it's like the simplicity weights so heavy but the children bringing knife and guns to school are overlooked

Many of the teachers seem disengaged and never respond to parents who are trying to support them and their child. Bullying runs rampant where children that counselors acknowledge as being continued "bad behavioral" cases in ISS are given passes. Instead of tackling the problem of foul mouthed children that are prone to violence the child being bullied are told to treat the bully with kindness and love or are told to pray for the bully. The bullying continues and my child who is a straight A student that used to love school now hates to go due to these children that get passes. Have repeatedly asked for support to VP of both grades with no resolve. Cannot wait to get out of this school. There are a handful of good teachers but the school is run very poorly and basically my child has to keep their head down and just try to get through the day. Avoid this school unless you want to be ignored when you have safety concerns. They do not support the good kids at this school and instead are afraid to tackle problem children that are running everyone over so they remain PC.

Amazing opportunities for children to learn and grow! The staff was very friendly and eager to help.

Our family just moved to South Carolina and we used the information on the Great School website to help us choose our schools. We can honestly say that Berry Shoals school is everything that Great Schools says it is. The school is very well organized and the teachers and office staff are very friendly and helpful. We are very excited about the opportunities for the arts and the school has a lot of technology for the students to use. Although it has only been 2 weeks, our daughter has been very happy and starting in a new school has been better than we had hoped for.

So far, one week in, my child has came home with numerous horror stories. Comp/gym teacher yelled at the students yesterday. Today a replacement woman comp. teacher came in and was just as mean. Elective teacher points students out and tells them how horrible they are. I don't understand why these people are "teachers" if they have such negative attitudes! If these 3 had attitude adjustments we'd rate this school higher.

This is our second time around attending this wonderful school. The academics and the performing arts are as good as anywhere. Great teachers and same great principal.

My child attended Berry Shoals. I can honestly say that it was a frustrating and disappointing experience. The teachers deal with so many students that it is easy to get lost. They were not advocates for my son. In addition, the testing seemed more important than anything else. After testing was over, my 6th grader spent weeks on busy work. Graded Sponge bob coloring sheets. I kid not. I was thoroughly disappointed with the time we were there. It is a commonly known that this school provides a poor learning environment. We know many families who removed their children to homeschool or private schools. Unfortunately that is not an option for all.

Our experience at BSIS has not been a positive one. I have been disappointed with both the teaching staff and school leadership. I expected a commitment not only to my child's academic scores, but also to overall well being. That caring was lacking. We experienced a lack of respect from the teaching staff that took a toll on my child's spirit and enthusiasm for learning. If I knew then what I know now, we would have avoided this school.
