My kids have been attending Nelson for 3 years now . The teachers strive for student success , and they communicate very well with parents. My kids love it and they are learning so much .

Both my boys have gone to Nelson My eldest son Graduated from there but last year my youngest son has had issues and we were dealing with the principal Dr. Jason Pepe he seemed to be professional and willing to help at first but that changed drastically as the last conversation my husband had with him on the phone was about a bullying issue that had happened the principal actually was very unprofessional and disrespectful on the phone yelling at my husband not letting him speak at all and he ended up hanging up on my husband. My son will not be going back to a school who has a leader who seems to bully others..Unless they find a new principal with better morals! My son hated going to school every day

out of all my experiences this is not the worst. it just they do a good job covering it up and people will not come forward or speak. only behind scenes

If you child is special needs you will be flabbergasted and amazed at the outpouring of compassion and support. Expectations are high (my IEP kid is ASD but on the lesser end of the spectrum).Gifted service coordinators are nothing short of wonderful and your gifted child will interact with gifted peers which will help build relationships for asynchronous developing kids.I also have two neurotypical and normal kids and their experiences have been great. Nelson has built a passion for reading in my kids that is contagious.Any concerns I've ever had have been dealt with swiftly by the teachers and school administrators. We are a family that could choose to send our kids anywhere not just via Florida Choice but also private. After interviewing and touring private and charter schools there is no better place than Nelson for any of our four children.

We had a very discouraging experience!! 1st grade teacher didn't respond to repeated attempts to discuss student. My impression was that she did not care.

All of our kids attended Nelson before middle school & high school...I can't say enough about this wonderful school! Teachers go above & beyond expectations, administration is really well connected to students & families, & PTA is very active

I have a 5th grader and a 1st grader. I love Nelson Elementary! The teachers and staff are very friendly.. As far as anyone else having a bad experience here, I can honestly say that it has to be more their problem...and definitely NOT the schools. I feel that my children are safe while they are here and getting a great education. Thanks!

I love Nelson! I don't know what else to say. They are wonderful people. From the front office to the teachers to the lunch staff. I have never met a better teacher than my daughters teacher Mrs. Diers. I only wish she could move to the second grade so we can have her again :-) I have never...ever had a problem with bullies. I know a lot of the parents and have never heard of them having any problems either. Cindy the principal....she is just wonderful. She walks through the halls and says hi to all the students by name! She really takes the time to get to know her school. I absolutely wouldn't change a thing.

Absolutely love Nelson Elementary! My child was there for 6 years. The teachers are always compassionate and hands on with the students. Theres plenty of opportunities to be involved with classroom and school events. We will miss them as my child transitions to middle school

My son is FINALLY done with this school, and so am I! Praise God! Kindergarten - his teacher was basically incompetent and they combined her class with a neighbor teacher who was impossibly harsh. 2nd grade we had the dumbest woman I have EVER seen in my life. 3rd grade we had 2 teachers and one was the meanest, nastiest, most abusive woman I have EVER seen. 5th grade was pathetic - FCAT FCAT FCAT - let's not teach English class, punctuation, spelling, proper sentence structure... I know lets teach reading and writing (no penmanship), have them read and write about it. Yeah, that'll work! Right? It doesn't! The principal is about useless. All I can say is thank the good Lord his elementary school career is over. Now onto the unlimited joys of Middle School.
