This school have real strict put they show us how to learn but one thing is that they give homework without even noticing what time they will take the students time. In summer school they are different in elementary and middle school. Elementary teaches 3 hours on reading but on math 1. But in middle school they teaches the whole 4 hours of a specific time. For example in math they take the whole 4 hours instead of splitting it 2 hours of math and reading. But I really like this school.

I have had the enormous privilege of being part of the Omega Alpha Academy family since it opened its doors in the year 2001.I have stated on many different occasions that my experience at OAA has been a continuous learning process. At Omega Alpha Academy, we not only have the opportunity to grow as professionals, but we also have the opportunity to help our team of teachers to develop, improve, and implement different teaching methods to benefit our students.During the time I have been at Omega, I have learned innumerable researched based instructional techniques and methodologies in order to help me improve the way I plan and deliver my lessons. The Instructional Protocol for Standard Delivery has been one of the most important acquisitions I have obtained. Some other techniques learned from the book Get Better Faster by Paul Bambrick Santoyo, in which OAA guides their philosophy, are: teacher radar, creating an exemplar to deliver your lesson, going granular and linear (when planning and delivering my lessons), formatively assessing, having the “it” factor, and practicing until you cannot get it wrong. These are just a few of the powerful teaching techniques I employ.I can proudly say that my overall experience at Omega has been a remarkable learning process.

If I had to choose just one reason out of the many countless reasons why working at Omega Alpha Academy is such a special experience, it would have to be the unique connection between a normal workday combined with all the abundant opportunities available for personal transformation and empowerment. I love how every day our school offers new exciting opportunities for growth both personal and professional. These principles directly correlate to what I believe are the heart and soul of our school: our student and staff culture. I am privileged to work in an environment that continuously stresses the importance of student and staff culture by truly valuing their students and employees by means of providing them with endless opportunities to succeed. All staff members have access to exceptional professional development trainings and are provided with the support needed to immediately implement all they have learned into their classroom. Our school’s staff is also very approachable and always willing to provide support and assistance in whichever way they can. Our effective leadership team promotes the growth of our organization and our superintendent does an excellent job of bringing great people to our team and making them even better professionals. He teaches us how to transform our mistakes into skills. As a result, the success our students and teachers have all had this year is due in no small part to the support and encouragement from all the people we work with. Each person not only chooses to be here, but they really love their work and want to be here. Every day, we are all inspired by the dedication of our OAA leadership and staff members who are constantly working for our students and striving to provide them with a high quality education. Every position is extremely valuable in our school and it is a privilege to see people so engaged, involved, and committed to accomplishing great things for our students.Forever grateful to be part of the OAA Family!

When I first started working at Omega Alpha Academy three years ago, I stepped into the job with absolutely no experience. Omega Alpha Academy within the very first week provided me with numerous training opportunities in which I could participate. The professional development provided at Omega Alpha Academy is practical, bite-sized and repeated over time allowing the trainee to grow exponentially. As a member of Omega’s Instructional Leadership Team, every day I am able to witness the results of the professional development training that is offered by the school. I have found my experience at Omega Alpha Academy to be extremely rewarding and gratifying. I am very thankful for the time invested in developing our skills.

I enrolled my child for kindergarten. They told us they would be using the computer in the classroom. They never did. They told us they had small class sizes - the class had 27 squished into a tiny room. The teachers and para educators there are great though and my child came out reading at a 1st-2nd grade level. we were lucky to get a teacher/para-educator team that had been there a while. However, the management is terrible, no respect for parents concerns, and it is well known that they treat the teachers terribly which results in high turnover. We really wanted to give this school a chance but with the high teacher turnover there is no consistency and then they are desperate to hire new teachers to fill open position so who knows how qualified they are. Teachers even quit in the middle of the school year, that is never good...

As a former teacher I can assure you that the post on May 10, 2010 has been a running theme for quite some time. If they have "high academic rigor" I'd hate to know what they're comparing themselves to. I'm just glad I could get out when I did. The executive director gets rid of people at the drop of the hat and has an associates degree in farming/ranch management, how's that for education?

As a teacher at OAA I can assure you that OAA has got serious problems. Our students consistently score well below the state averages when it comes to the AIMS (about 35% of the students pass compared to a state average of 70%) and there's good reasons for that. You can find those statistics on this website. Last year over half of the teachers that started the school year quit or were fired before the year was over, and there's good reasons for that too. As far as I know we've never had the same high school principal two years in a row. Just keep these facts in mind when looking for a school.
