My daughter is thriving both academically and socially/emotionally at LTS. The teachers and team are phenomenal with middle and high school age people. Highly recommend.

My son thrives at this amazing school. He has supportive teachers that care for him deeply, a diverse group of friends who are caring rather than competitive, and unlimited opportunites for growth and leadership. We are so grateful for LTS, and look forward to sending his younger sibling next year.

Long Trail is an outstanding independent school in beautiful Dorset Vermont. Our kids absolutely love it there! The faculty go above and beyond to provide a safe, supportive environment for students to excel academically and pursue their passions.

We see our daughter thriving in this school. There's always academic help when she needs it, and we are very happy with all the academic activities the school provides. We recommend this school.

I had written a review that has been deleted by the school. The school does show preference of treatment when it comes to dealing with problems related to the children whose parents are teachers at the school. There is a child with behavioral problems who is bullying other children there who instead of being expelled, has been moved to a higher grade! She has skipped a grade because of her unruly behavior, therefore the school is very lenient when it comes to the children who are related to staff members, not only so, they have rewarded this girl for her behavior. This should be alarming to all parents whose children make a real effort to be good students and behave like such as well. The school should be ashamed of proceeding in this manner. You may delete this, but it will be posted again and again, until you expel that student or move her back to the grade where she belongs, and have her mother use a tutor for the classes where she's not welcome, most importantly, the class her mother teaches.

If you've ever considered moving to provide your child with the best possible education, this is your destination. The fact that Long Trail is an IB school is only the beginning. The teachers do their job extremely well and the students are responding not only with excellent effort (and corresponding results), but a true love for their school. The school has a great tradition in the arts and growing and well-supported athletics. All aspects of education at Long Trail are approached with a commitment to excellence. In the little state of Vermont, this small school with its beautiful facility and grounds is a place for world-class education.

How fortunate we are to have the choice of sending our children to a school that makes such a positive difference. LTS is truly an extended family and treats students, faculty and staff as such. Many of us on the staff have children who have graduated and we know what a difference LTS has made in their lives. It s exciting for us to be a part of the next generation of incredible kids. The new Head of School has done wonders to bridge the gap that was beginning to grow between faculty and administration. Respect is evident throughout the school on so many levels. It is not uncommon now to receive a handwritten thank you note sometimes from co-workers, sometimes from students, sometimes from parents. What a great atmosphere! There is no place else I d rather be.

The students, parents, faculty, and staff care about education. It is rare to find such a combination of quality elements in one school.

I have been a parent at Long Trail School for 5 school years and with 2 different Headmasters. This school has a superior academic program which is lead by its fantastic staff of educators. The school is on the smaller side, for a high school, which gives every student the ability to excel, the teacher's know the student's, and the teacher's go out of their way to be available for the students for any questions and/or help that is needed. The team of teachers are all excited to be here, they are all excited to teach our children, and, importantly, they all strive to continue their own educations. I cannot believe how lucky we are to have found this school! I am constantly amazed at the distance families travel to send their children to this school, and how far the families travel to attend and support the school community events that occur, but I understand! Once you've found a place that embraces your student's education this well, you will do what you can to keep your child here.

If a school is shaped by its leadership, this great school should beware. The head is cutting a swath through the administration, and it isn't pretty. Serious questions should be asked about his decisions, and potential families and donors should explore the rationale behind his choices before enrolling. Despite his charm, he has no educational background or truly any idea of how to manage a school.
