In the most kind and general description of my experience: Teachers have long stopped caring. Students talk over class. Sexual harassment is rampant. Corporal punishment is still a part of discipline. This school did nothing but prepare me to meet the minimum test scores for state requirements. Going to college was a wake-up call for how unprepared and out of touch DHS left me... And I was EXTREMELY lucky. Tax payers, I beg you invest in this poor city's education. It will make the world of difference for your children, grandchildren, and the future of Doniphan as a whole.

I have had more positive interactions at the school than negative ones. It definitely has its faults as does any school. There is a lot that needs repaired and fixed both in the staff and the buildings but when the community refuses to pass any new tax raises then I'm not sure how they expect the school to improve things. If the community and parents would step up and start supporting the school, the administration, and the staff then we would see an improvement in the school.

I graduated a few years ago and nothing has changed. When I was there Several teachers said to the class "I do not care if you pass or fail, I get paid the same". These are high school students not college students, you have to get them interested in school. The building is old and run down. If you want your kids to have a good life and have them go to college and get a good job, not have to worry about the next payday. This is not the school to be in. Nearly a third of the class dropped out in high school. Okay so what, some kids just dont make the cut. Not even a dozen people out of a class of over a hundred have completed a four year degree. So If you want them to graduate from doniphan, Don't worry they will stay close to home because they will work at mcdonalds, Briggs, Vitronic, or will sell drugs to make there money.

Very bad school. Bad teachers, bad principals, and the buildings need a little TLC after 70 years but I guess in Doniphan buildings are suppose to be chipping away..and really unfair discipline. The teachers just really don't care about anything else but that salary. I should know. I've had 3 teachers say the same thing that they don't care if I flunk. They are still being payed and they are always complaining about the pay.
