Don't let the "official" rating fool you. It's a good school. If you're looking in Discovery Bay vs Brentwood based on schools. We had a great experience with Timberpoint here in Discovery Bay compared to busy and crowded schools in Brentwood. Smaller town, less students, more focus and attention from teachers. All teachers we've deal with from grades 1st-5th have been excellent. A positive learning environment for kids. The after school academy program on site is also very reasonable and helpful for working parents.

Located in a fringe community, with historically little to no focus or development for children in the area. The school showcases that.Behind in all studies, including math and reading, Timber Point has the unenviable position of having both the lowest paid teach salaries in the state as well as parents who take no interest in child learning. This creates a unique environment where parents aren't allowed on campus (back to school night is a recording video, child performances are recordings posted online, etc.), there's no collaboration between parents and teachers, and teachers have little to no control over work being done and classroom environment. Even in meeting with teachers trying to understand how you can help, unfortunately the response is simply that the classroom and kids are out of control with little to no parent involvement, so their hands are tied. Add to this when the school places a first time ever teacher in the classroom, and pretty much the entirety of a child's education needs to happen outside of the classroom. The school is unreachable by phone, which in emergencies is troubling. Not being negative, but as parents if looking for a laissez faire approach and more so daycare, this honestly may be a great fit. If you focus on academics, it's likely not a good fit. If you focus on positive social interactions for children and healthy interpersonal relationships for kids, it's absolutely not a good fit.

I can’t complain so far! My son is very eager to learn, and we’ve taught him to always to try your best, and we stay involved in his learning as much as possible. ANy questions ive been able to email his teachers and get quick responses. He’s known some friends since preschool, and has a good group of friends. Although this is the 3rd Principal in just I think 2years. I hope things don’t take a turn!

We experience very talented, driven, wonderful teachers struggling with budget issues. Should not be this way in California 2018!!!!!!

We love this school! My children recently completed Kinder, second and fourth grades. They all had amazing teachers with excellent communication. I felt I was involved in all their successes and struggles. My children were able to participate in lunch time violin lessons, art, chess club, GATE, student council and one of my children was involved in the magical castle learning center.

This school has some great teachers, however, there are also many who are not so great. There are little to no additional activities, no PE for lower grades. My daughter has had problems with reading for over 3 years and was just tested. Once we got the test results, it still took over 2 months for her to be placed in the appropriate "literacy group." There is a huge bullying problem at this school and though many parents have complained, it still is rampant. The principal tries but is very ineffective.
