If your child is going to be in special education, run far away. They treat them like babies and like outcasts. They have them eat lunch and breakfast in the classroom instead of in the lunch room like all of the other students. They also don't take them to a real bathroom, They have them use a tiny potty training toilet in a room, it's disgusting. These toilets are for 1-3 year olds, why are they making 4 year Olds use this tiny potty on the floor? Also if you express your concerns about your child, the principal and teachers are more concerned about protecting the teachers rather than the students. The special education department is a joke and I can't take them or the principal seriously.

We have been very lucky to have this school to send our student to. Teachers are kind, patient and the learning process is outstanding.. North Live Oak Elementary.

I very blessed that my child is in Livingston Parish Schools. His current school is amazing and I didn't have to FIGHT for his rights. Any school that makes a parent fight for their childs rights is worth nothing to me. ty for giving your old zip that really means nothing. My advise to you is to pray your child never needs special assistance while at this school. ty for your opinion but I don't need it. Have a blessed day

My son has been in private school since Pre K. We enrolled him in North live Oak this year in 3rd grade. I have been super impressed. Everything they do extra for the students, the incentives and treats that make them want to try harder, and such caring teachers. I have no complaints. As far as children with special needs, my nephew is at the middle school and is deaf. At any school you have to fight for your child's rights. You have to know the laws as statutes. Once you are armed with the information you demand what your child is entitled to. You will have to do this at almost any school. Most don't know what every special needs child needs or is entitled to. It's the job of the parent sadly to find out and fight. Don't let a couple bad reviews turn you off from a school district. We moved here from a district where no school was rated over D. (2, or 3) on this scale. You want to see bad schools? Check out zip code 71423. You will then feel blessed your child is in livingston parish.
