This is my third year as a parent of students at CIS. I have lived in Central most of my life and not in the cliche. If you aren't in the Central Cliche, encourage your kid to fly under the radar. The front office staff is mostly nice, although I do not understand how they selected the Assistant Principal they did as she is the least approachable person I have ever encountered. I've attempted to speak to her at more than one event over the years, and she will just look at you like you are bothering her or beneath her. She will also interrupt you or cut you off if you are talking to someone she would rather socialize with. She does not seem to be there for the right reasons which is unsettling given her position of authority. I would like to say that she is the only one that does this, but honestly, it is how a lot of the teachers interact at the functions... like you are a bother to them if you approach them to speak. I'm thankful we have class dojo to communicate, I can't imagine how rejected the students must feel being subjected to that. Bullying will largely go ignored until your child finally stands up for themselves. Then your child is the problem, and they will be disciplined. Unfairly. Discipline is a joke and not consistent at all, often times being left up to the office staff, not the teacher or staff member who witnessed the situation requiring the discipline leaving it extremely disproportioned to the actual situation. They will also schedule the punishment days out from the initial incident making discipline seem more for entertainment than actual reinforcement. Academically, you couldn't ask for better. I find my children ahead of their peers and relatives in other communities and states. While I am satisfied with the level of education my children are receiving, I will be happy to be done with this school (and it's stuck up staff). I truly hope CMS will be better, if not we will seriously consider Central Private.

If your child has no academic and/or health issues, this is your school!! If your child has a health plan, 504 plan, and/or IEP, just prepare to be the “problem”. Advocating for your child’s mental, emotion, physical, and academic well-being is highly frowned upon. You should do as your told, accept the response you’re given and go on about your day. You should expect to have your child who struggles placed with the least experienced teacher. You should expect the administration and teachers to disregard your child’s health plan, 504 plan and/or IEP. You should prepare to be told incorrect and/or inaccurate information in an attempt to get you to comply with what administration wants you to agree to.

We moved to this school district about a year ago and currently have 4 children enrolled in 3 different schools in this district. Dealing with the District office since day one has been frustrating to say the least. I have encountered so much disorganization at the district office and at both the middle school and now the high school. For goodness sake, I couldn't even find what time school starts or ends on the high school website. It's just been very stressful experience for our family.

Is very funny that all the reviews are done by teachers!!!I am not a teacher I am parent and I can't tell you this school has serious problems with discrimination !!!If English is not your first language be aware they will target you!!!!!If you are not from Louisiana you will be in their list they will approach you and go after you for everything !!!If

The teachers at CIS are dedicated toimproving the education of all students. High expectations are part of the school culture and the rresults is that our school is rate 3 2 in the state for student achievement.

My school is all about students first. The staff works tirelessly at making sure our students are taught everything they need to not only be academically successful but socially prepared. Our school could improve like almost every school could, having more money to fund all the things we like to see our students have.
