We were so excited to have our children begin at St. Barnabas… however, that excitement diminished rather quickly. Where should I start? My daughter had her brand new birthday gift (a $40 stainless steel water bottle) scratched up with a pen by a bully in her class the DAY after she got it from her aunt. The teacher did nothing. This same student also destroyed a brand new book she had in her backpack (while she went to use the restroom) without any consequences. Following these incidents, my daughter began to overhear the conversations amongst students at recess, lunch, and in the restroom, discussing extremely explicit lyrics to Cardi B & Nicki Minaj songs, prostitution, strip clubs, and cannibalism, complete with explicit details about Jeffrey Dahmer. Really unbelievable to have to have this conversation with a young child after attending a Christian school for only 3 months. The other shocking part about St B. was how many kids they let into the school that aren’t only non-Christian’s, but bully kids that are Christian and enjoy singing at Chapel. My daughter experienced girls mocking her for singing and rolling their eyes during chapel time. Very strange to me that this is allowed at any school, let alone a private Christian school. The final straw for us was when my daughter came to me about being bullied for her body parts by envious older middle school girls. They’d make comments about her breasts and butt and as the days went on, I could see her confidence starting to diminish and she’d make comments about her not looking a certain way. My husband and I pulled her because we wouldn’t take anymore. Initially our only gripe with St. B was the heavy homework load and the rude teachers, but at least we could deal with those two issues. The rest of it became too much and not worth affecting my child in such a negative way. We are so excited for her next chapter. The new school she’s entering has the loveliest teachers that foster a warm, caring environment with zero tolerance for bullying.

I went to this school for a good few years. I got into some trouble by the end because I didn’t choose my friends wisely. I was accused of some things I I didn’t do and eventually got me suspended (i don’t want to be specific but I was accused of SAYING things not anything serious). The principal blamed me clearly by the way he so called apologized to me. I left before my last year of school because of how unwelcome the st. Barnabas staff and principal made me feel after they didn’t believe me. I’m trying not to give too many details but the school didn’t handle the situation properly (this was not the first time they didn’t handle a situation properly it had happened before). I think academically this school is good but with anything else this school doesn’t know how to handle situations between students. I am just sharing my experience and disgust of what happened at this school my last year. However, If your looking for a good academic experience this isn’t a bad school.

My children and family's experience has been very positive. The teachers truly care about each student and invest themselves in their individual needs. They attend their after school activities and go out of their way to make sure students know that they are loved, supported and enjoy learning! The Administration is equally as committed and supportive of each student's academic and personal success! Parents have multiple opportunities to be involved and be an active part in the life of the school.

Top notch school and even better community (or family rather)! Innovative and always focused on the children exhibiting leadership and love. These students are so lucky to get to experience such a high quality, top rated education and friend group! The facilities and grounds are outstanding and always being improved, as needed. I couldn’t feel better about the environment I’m leaving my son at during the day. Blessed to be a part of SBES!

This is our first year at st B. And our kids love it. We chose to move them here because the public schools in our area were failing our children. After only being enrolled for a few months, my daughter who was being bullied at her previous school is now happy and outgoing again! Even more, their curriculum keeps both of them engaged and learning every single day. Staff are welcoming and helpful as we learn to navigate private school life!

My daughter is a 1st grader at SBES. This is her first year attending and so far it has far exceeded my expectations! At SBES, they are setting students up for success in more areas than just academics! My daughter and I are both so happy with the experience at this school. Everyone at the school is so friendly and you can see how much they care about the students! I know enrolling my daughter in SBES has been one of the best decisions I have ever made!

My daughter has been going to this school for at least 4 months now and has adjusted well thanks to all the nice teachers, staff, and students. Her getting to go to St. Barnabas is an honor and I am very thankful we are a part of this community.

St. Barnabas is such a blessing to my children. The faculty, staff and administration truly care about the whole child. From academics to athletics everything is done to excellence. God truly answered a prayer when he opened the door for us to join the SBES family!

Our daughter started PreK this year and we feel blessed to have found St Barnabas School! Providing a challenging academic curriculum centered around Christian love, we could not be more pleased. Mrs. Warren and Mrs Baldauff are wonderful teachers!

I am so glad to have enrolled my daughter in to Saint Barnabas last year. The faculty is friendly and top notch. They are in touch with all children and their parents to ensure success for all students. The faculties are nice and there are tons of sports and activities to become involved in. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful private education in the Deland FL area.

The education and teachers are superior. I have put 2 children through the school and the school and education help to prepare them with good organizational skills, how to be independent, and have good study habits.

St. Barnabas is an excellent school. The teachers are very knowledgeable and kind. They create an structure and organized environment to enable the students to learn. I know of no other school in which I would put my child.

Our daughter has attended St. Barnabas Episcopal School in DeLand, Florida, from Kindergarten to 8th Grade and will graduate in less than two weeks. Every single St. B. teacher she has had, and learned from, has been caring, hardworking and has put great effort into seeing that she reaches her full potential. Because of her elementary and middle school education at St. Barnabas, we feel confident that she has a well-rounded, solid foundation that will carry her through any high school and onto the college of her choice.

We have been part of the St B community for 9 years, and couldn't be happier with the education, the staff, and the overall development of our children - socially, spiritually, and intellectually. It is a safe environment for our children to grow, learn, and have some fun too!

St. Barnabas is an excellent school. St. Barnabas receives the highest achievement awards on an annual basis. St. Barnabas prepares elementary and middle school students for success in High school, College, and in life. Mr. Paul Garcia is an excellent Head of school. The Staff is excellent and all of them go above and beyond to teach our students the values needed to succeed in life.St. Barnabas teaches the principals of high moral values, high self-esteem, and the love of our Heavenly Father.St. Barnabas also offers scholarships to those who made need assistance and this has helped many parents both now and in the past.They also provide bus services to Orange City, DeBary,New Smyrna, Ormond, and Port Orange.

St. Barnabas offers a tremendous learning experience within a nurturing and caring environment. The teachers are dedicated and hard working and most have been at the school many years developing great chemistry throughout the elementary and upper grade levels.
