My 5 year old son transferred into Ortona in the middle of the year from a private school. He had so much anxiety about learning and already hated school. He was lonely and felt he was not a good student. Thankfully, we enrolled him in Ortona. We were immediately welcomed into the school community and were blessed to get Ms. Wood as his Kindergarten teacher. The principal, Mr. Adkins, is amazing and student centered. He cares about each child and the academic learning on campus. All the teachers have been so helpful and kind to our son, but Ms. Wood has especially bent over backwards to help unravel what he needed most. She has been so encouraging and loving to our son. She is constantly trying new ideas and strategies to help him learn and build his confidence. She spends her own money on treasures and fun new ways for the children to learn, and she takes time to touch base with parents every day. Orntona feels like a family, because the office staff and teachers look at each of their students as individuals. Now my son's anxiety is completely gone. He loves school and is proud of his daily personal and academic accomplishments. He now feels empowered to take risks and try new things. I am so grateful for this little school and the hard working and gifted teachers who are educating children there. If you are new to the area or looking for a school with teachers who care, office staff who love the kids, and a dedicated principal who cares about children and their learning, Ortona is an awesome school choice. Come see this little gem of a school on beachside.

Ortona is an amazing school. The teachers staff and principalare all friendly, very helpful, and they try to make students and parents feel welcomed. My daughter loves it there. I am always well informed with things going on with my daughters education.

gOrtona no longer makes parents feel welcome on school grounds . They have a new pick up policy that will lead to someone getting hit by a car very dangerous situation for everyone. You are no longer allowed to talk to teachers or staff. I hope they will make exceptions during lighting storms. It seems like the new policy is more important than child safety.

I went to ortona for all 6 years and it was wonderful! The staff was so helpful and the teachers made sure the students excelled! Starting high school, i look back at ortona as the best years of my schooling!

Amazing school! The PTA is wonderful, the staff really does care about the kids, and my son LOVES going everyday. I can't wait for my next two to join the Ortona Family, because that's what we are - a Family!

My third grade son transferred to Ortona elementary for the 2010-2011 school year. It is a really wonderful school, we absolutely love it. He did very well even starting 2 weeks late into the school (due to our move cross-country from Utah), he received plenty of personalized attention and direction. The staff is helpful, friendly, supportive and professional. It is a great school an I highly recommend it. I'm very sad we are moving so he won't be attending for fourth grade.
