My hairdressing teachers are wonderful. My issue is with admin. They claim a “no bully tolerance policy” and fail HEAVILY to follow through. I’ve been called various slurs. Bullied for having mental disorders and it’s all gone through the system and ignored. Admin does not care about you unless they are legally required to (such as 504 plans etc) and even then they hardly do a thing. My friend was told to starve herself and they blamed HER. On top of bad admin, the head of the math department does not care at all for her students. I can count on one hand how many times she’s actually explained how to do something instead of linking a YouTube video. Don’t get me wrong, there are many wonderful people working here. I love most of my teachers and they all work very hard. I’ve just had a few bad experiences that over powered the good. For example, I had a substitute joke about self harm. As someone who’s struggled with that, it was horrible to hear a sub making light of the subject.

School was using ALEKS for their math program which was terrible but switched back to traditional teaching last year. Honors Academic courses vary in how challenging they are, science needs improvement. The VP also became the Principal which has been a great improvement. School is a small community and a good alternative to DHS, which is extremely overcrowded, for the average student . Lacks after school activities but that is primarily because students are bused from neighboring cities and if they do not have private transportation they cannot participate.

Abbott is like an extended family. They have been so wonderful to students and really seem to care.

as a parent of a current 10th grader, the teachers are very involved and work hard to keep the kids on track and put in lots of extra effort to help the kids. I also have a student at Danbury High School and do not feel the DHS has the same type of relationship with the kids. He is happy and learning a lot in his trade and has lots of opportunities to participate in after school activities, not as many as the local high school for sure but it seems the last couple of years Abbott is adding more and more after school clubs. I am very pleased that he was accepted at Abbott and feel he has more opportunities for success after high school.

Abbott Tech is a wonderful place for students to learn a trade and begin their careers as skilled tradespeople with no debt. If students choose to pursue college, they are prepared. Some of the trades encourage college after graduation; however, the majority of the students are placed in lucrative positions upon graduation, not minimum wage jobs. Henry Abbott is a community--its small size allows all students and faculty to know each other and support each other in academics and social forums. Connecticut is in great need of skilled tradespeople, and Henry Abbott is proud to provide working adults to fill this need. A true testament to the value of the education received at Henry Abbott is the connection and dedication of alumni to the school. They are invaluable in their generosity to the students and often hire many graduates.

As a parent my son attended Danbury High School during 9th grade. He really learned very little/nothing during class time. There were many fights during and after school. There were just too many children, too many drugs. We are pleased with Abbott Tech. It is not a perfect school and need to improve their academics and shop classes.

Food is terrible wouldn't even want to feed it to my dog. Academics is bad most teachers don't care about there jobs. Administration is just as bad as well they don't care about the students opinions and punish harshly. Clubs and activities forget it there are hardly any clubs at all and most activities get cancelled due to lack in student participation. The technical side of it some teachers in there are good but others don't care at all. If you think you'd like to go to college and a good school academically do not go to this school.

Well as students, we hardly learn anything there. I know that some shops have gone through teachers and we're stuck with subs for a good part of the year too. Administration tends to be rough on the students, especially the head principal. In my opinion the schools rating should be a one. A four is overly generous.

The teachers here are ok, the school administration are not great. . I I would suggest checking out other local Technical schools such as Obrien, Vinal, Plat or Kaynor first. Sometimes location isn't everything.

Abbott Technical High School is an outstanding school and has amazing academic and shop staff that work very closely with the students. They have just opened a Health Technology program, which I am currently apart of, and the program puts you on the right track to your health care career. The program will certify you to become a CNA ( Certified Nurses Assistant ) during your junior year, and also certifies you in CPR. Overall, the new program is an amazing learning experience, and the teacher will work to make sure you fully understand and retain the information. Henry Abbott Technical High is truly the " #1 School on the Planet".

There is nothing great about this school. The academics are low especially in Math. Look at the school profile to see how poorly students perform in the state wide standards test called CAPT. The trades offered at this school are not 21st century trades. There is no health care trade at all...one of the largest growing areas in employment. If you want your child to become a brick layer then send him or her to this school. If you want your child to be prepared for a successful college experience there are truly great schools in the area. Henry Abbott Tech is not one of them.
