My son is a 5th grader at North Lake Elementary, and he has been going here since Kindergarten . He has loved every teacher he's had and they do an excellent job of providing accelerated courses/resources for students exceeding the curriculum. I highly recommend Northlake Elementary. We plan to send our younger there as well.

Fantastic neighborhood school! Principal and VP know the name of every child in the school. Students thrive with the support of the faculty and staff. Diverse student body. Active PTA and lots of community support. Could not recommend this school more!

Our experience has been wonderful! This is a school of hard working students, committed staff and exceptional leadership. This school is about more than test scores; it's about raising up good humans who care, are educated and are compassionate. My daughter has advanced more than a grade level each year at Northlake and is currently doing math 2-3 grade levels above her current grade. She is also part of REACH and able to foster her creativity in that way - in addition to Math Club which she loves! The PTA is hard working and loves serving the staff and children of the school. The community loves this school, and the school loves them back. It's a beautiful thing! This site only tells a glimpse of what the school is really like...I'd encourage anyone looking for a school home to schedule a tour and make an educated decision for your child's future.

Our personal experience has been exceptional. There is a wonderful movement from the neighborhood to encourage those who live in the attendance area to attend the school. We have beautiful diversity, wonderful teacher involvement and the parent involvement is quadruple what it used to be. To visit Northlake Elementary is to love Northlake Elementary. Its a true Lake Highlands gem!

We have had a great 3 years at NLE with 2 kids attending. We feel so fortunate to have such a supportive group teaching, motivating, and caring deeply for our children.

Northlake started out as a good school, but the longer you attend the school becomes less caring. If you ask someone in the office something, no-one ever knows. You go a step further and try to ask one of the principals. First they'll lie like they're in a meeting, once you inform the staff you'll wait the principals come "out the meeting" and are able to talk. The situation still isn't handled until you talk to a teacher. Once the discussion happens, you discover the teacher has basically lied to you as well. The teacher lying has happened because s/he is trying to fix the situation into his/her favor. So you are left with an office full of never-knowing staff members, principals that lie and teachers that's hard to get in contact with to also discover the teacher has lied to you.

We bought our home last summer and knew we wanted to send our son to Northlake- it's exciting to see Lake Highlands get behind this sweet neighborhood school! Our son just started kindergarten here and we are SO impressed with the school, principal and staff. His teacher is INCREDIBLE and he loves going to school each day. The principal has really turned this school around and we feel lucky to be here!

A new principal who is amazing and assistant principal who is very involved with the pta. Great teachers! This school has turned around and the 3 rating is out of date. If any doubt schedule a tour! You won't be disappointed

This school is all I hoped when I moved to Texas. Being from a place where Spanish is our first language my daughter just knew the basic English. The teachers, the librarian and staff are great they helped her so much. Now she can have a conversation with anybody and she loves to read in English. She is staying at this school until 6th grade.

Northlake is so much more than we could have hoped for-the differentiated learning has really helped my son (kindergarten) not to be bored and to be challenged, academically! The faculty and staff are incredible and will absolutely do anything for "their kids". We are kept so in the loop on what's happening and really feel that we are part of a team.

We love this school! The teachers, principal and librarian are wonderful. The facility is awesome and the location is ideal - right across from a library and just down the street from the high school, the center of the community.

We have a new principal (she began 2013-2014 school year) who has completely transformed the culture of this amazing school, we have a new Assistant Principal for this school year (2014-2015) who is absolutely engaged and committed to the students, faculty and PTA. The PTA has made leaps and bounds, fully participating at the district level and pioneering many events and opportunities for community involvement. I am so proud to have a kindergartner at this incredible school that is benefiting so much from dedicated faculty and most of all leadership from the Principal and assistant principal-the students are loved as if they were their own, and in so many ways they are! WILD ABOUT NORTHLAKE!!!

I absolutely love NLE. Every school has its issues but these teachers truly care about the students often giving more than required of their time and resources... I took my daughter out for one school year...omg. big mistake..I moved her right back...NLE rocks!!!

'Just started here this year, so its early yet. The kids seem pretty happy here so far, but there are issues... Unsafe and absolutely ridiculous drop off and pick up situation. Very short recess, and not a "healthy" atmosphere. Candy is given as rewards or sold after school for fundraising. Give kids candy and dont give them recess and wonder why there are behavioral issues sometimes? hm... I'm keeping a positive attitude though and hoping. Be the change, right?

This could be a great school. Due to lack of leadership and absence of parent involvement it is not. Whatever happened to the PTA or lack of it? They were absent this school year. There are some really great teachers at NLE,but leadership is .....need a new principal. I sent in a form to be contacted by the "PTA" for volunteer oppurtunities,no one contacted me. I will be moving my kids to another school, when the school year is over. Not happy with NLE.

My child has attended this school for a few grades & I can say that the principal lacks severe leadership skills. Teachers are constantly coming and going, or switching grades during the middle of the school year due to their high level of inexperience. The staff lacks capability of controlling morning school traffic, I've seen at least 4 children come close to being hit by a car for lack of staff supervising traffic. Parents are NOT allowed inside the school, feels more like visiting a prison than a school. I'm counting the days until the llast day of school since this is my child's last year here. Absolute nightmare of a school.
