You know that you are going to experience a team of excellence from the moment you walk through the doors at Aikin. The office staff that greet you take professionalism to a whole new level. I think they know every child & parent individually. The teaching staff are second to none. Each child is given a hug & words of encouragement multiple times per day by the teachers. Teachers provide structure, guidance, & compassion consistently. They bring new & innovative techniques/approaches into the class. I’m incredibly grateful for the job they’re doing teaching my son.The Administration are equally progressive & compassionate. They seem to be supportive of the staff & want great things for the children. The goal is to touch every child in a meaningful way in order to help them grow into healthy & productive future generations. The blood, sweat, & tears shed by all staff at Aikin will accomplish that.Aikin is a beautiful melting pot. There are children from all over the globe. Many of these children have limited formal education & English skills. Many of these children are in a completely foreign & scary place, which makes the reassurances that are provided by school staff so imperative. Unfortunately, I don’t think Aikin receives the amount of support they truly need in order to help these children progress as quickly as they need to progress in order to be successful on their educational journey. That is NO fault of the exemplary staff at Aikin, but is the failure of Richardson ISD in the provision of the necessary services to schools with this population of students. This school needs extra resources to help these children compete in the modern educational system & the workforce of tomorrow. Aikin is providing THE BEST foundation that’s humanly possible to provide. I believe that it is this reason that the school scores are low. The children simply need more intensive service than the staff are capable of providing. I know every staff member wants to provide that degree of educational service, but it’s just is not humanly possible when they have 20+ students that need that same level of services. If you send your child to Aikin, rest easy, because they’re in GREAT hands. Your child will be uplifted by exceptional staff, & have the amazing learning experience. Don’t let those scores scare you.

All of the administrative staff have been so helpful and pleasant to work with. The three teachers I know personally, Ms. Wolfe , Ms. Rosie and Ms. Jasmine are wonderful. My little three year old loves visiting for his weekly speech class. Jasmine has a special way with younger children. I am looking forward to enrolling my 5 year old in the fall. I feel blessed to be part of the Aiken community.

Registration, meet the teacher and the first days were incredible. The are so organized, helpful, energetic, and pleasant. What they have in place keeps the students safe. The school is colorful, full of resources for computer lab, art, music from the drop off to the pick up. All staff are eager to help. I feel that my child is set to have a great kindergarten experience.

My child started assisting Aikin this school year. He did not attend Pre-K and I thought it would be very had for him to get adjusted to Kindergarten. Since school started in late August he has improved so much. The teachers are very friendly. I see a lot of parent involvement.

Aikin, quite frankly, is an amazing place. It is not situated in the best of locations. It does not have all the "bells and whistles" of other Richardson schools. "Bells and whistles" are not missed by the students at Aikin. That, in it's entirety, is a result of the teachers and staff of Aikin. They care. Plain and simple. They provide. Daily. The students at Aikin do not know that their school is any different from any other. I am a teacher that left Aikin to teach at the school where my children attend. I miss it every day. I miss the kids. I miss the staff. I miss, most of all, the dedication and tenacity of the community that is Aikin. They deserve accolades, support, and everything else that we can offer. Sincerely and graciously, Chelsea Snell

Akin Elementary. My son has attended this school from 2nd grade through 5th grade and I can say they are the best years of his life. All the teachers are outstanding and the curriculum is engaging. Aikin supports an 'out of the box' thinking style and the teachers altered their teaching methods to fit the classes' needs. I felt that Aikin has helped him grow and become a stronger individual. I also believe that the faculty sets each and every student up for a successful life.
