I attended Braddock from K-5th and it is honestly a really great school! I am now pursuing my own degree in elementary education because of my great experience attending Braddock. Although, I no longer live in the L.A county area once my kid attend elementary I for sure would have them attend this school becuase it continues to be a great school and this is coming from someone who was class of 2011.

Highly recommend this school! I learned of this school once my child tested gifted in 3rd grade. So we started the GM program in 4th grade and progressed so much academically and emotionally in that first year. At the same time, my younger child started in the Mandarin-immersion program so that I could achieve my dream of having 1 daily dropoff/pickup for a couple years. The students from each program are somehow kept separate as much as possible, but they do mix for afterschool. Both programs that I have experienced have caring, enthusiastic and well-supported teachers. I experienced some random hostility from the 2nd grade magnet teacher/GATE coordinator, but the principal and office staff swiftly addressed and resolved the problem. Parent volunteer support is really high and welcomed by the administration. Teachers are very responsive to parent concerns. It has been an amazing experience all around.

We are so lucky to be part of Braddock! The campus houses three programs: Community (regular) school, Mandarin Immersion, and Magnet, and Principal Lopez leads all three programs with incredible care, patience, and responsiveness. We are part of the Mandarin program, and we have only glowing recommendations for all our teachers. In the pandemic year, our teachers engaged and challenged the kids despite all the challenges with virtual learning! The pandemic year was extremely difficult and so much extra work for teachers and parents, but we all worked together and had a year that we are proud of. The parent community is full of generous, talented, and just nice-to-hang-out-with folks, and I just love and adore their smart, kind, and super cute kids. I know we don't have some of the facilities such as science lab and grassy fields like other schools, but I am confident that having top-notch teaching staff + great school mates + differentiated instructions + (too man other things to list) easily make up for it and more.

I've been to Braddock Elementary since Preschool in 2010, I just graduated 3 years ago. Braddock is a place where everyone feels at home. It has taught me about friendship & I'm grateful for that.

We have had a good overall experience. Ms. Lopez really cared about the kids. And the communication with parents is excellent.

My kids are enrolled in the mandarin program but I have several friends in the regular program, we all get along and we are all working to the same common goal, a better education for our children.

Magnet program at this school is great. Overall school rating is for regular school classes but magnet program is great at this school. Magnet students are exposed with lot of different areas, STEM projects.

My son switched to Braddock at 1st grade. The program and parents made the transition very smooth. My son made new friends very quick and loves the school. This is our second year in Braddock for Mandarin Immersion Program, we love the school, the MIP program, the great community of school, parents, and students. The dedication of teachers and parents makes a big difference in the learning experience.

We are extremely grateful for the school and especially the community. The parent involvement and commitment to the school is incredible. My son is part of the pioneer year and he has thoroughly enjoyed the immersion experience, environment and education. He has made great friends and enjoys learning. He really didn’t speak mandarin before he started, so we were hesitant about the transition, but he has adapted well and enjoys Mandarin sometimes more than English! The teachers have been wonderful and differentiate the learning to meet the level of the children. Principal Lopez is also super supportive and approachable – she listens and responds. We have seen a lot develop in just a few short years and look forward to what the future has to bring in the expanding MI program. Our younger kids will be joining soon in the upcoming and subsequent years.

This review pertains to the mandarin dual language immersion program. This is our second year at Braddock and I am so glad that I found this school and was able to enroll my son in it. The teachers have been top-notch, as well as the education and after-school programs. Parental involvement is high and very beneficial. It's been humbling to witness such passion and dedication from parents for the sake of their children's education. Despite having a long commute to school (we live in the south bay) we have not regretted our decision and it has been worth all those hours in the car. Our son is learning not just a second language (and a hard one at that) but also math concepts, reading, and being respectful and helpful to others. The environment is nurturing and positive and my son loves going to school. We're looking forward to enrolling our daughter in the fall.

This is our third year at Braddock and my son loves going to school! As a parent, I am pleased with my son's education journey and the school experience. I am also in awe of the transformation of our Mandarin Immersion Program in just three years and collaborative mindset with other programs on campus. I do wish there is more grass or shade on campus, but after all it is a public school. Parents are energetic and have successfully worked with administration on a brand new privacy screen for the kinder yard recently. There is really no other comparable bilingual program nearby from all perspectives.

A large but good school! Home to one of the few (and best) Mandarin Immersion programs in CA. Principal is engaged & open to feedback, parents are involved, & Señorita Granados (support staff) is like a caring and loving aunt to all 500+ students here. She's really great.

Our review pertains to 3rd grade gifted magnet program. We had a horrible 3rd grade year, and, given negative feedback from other parents, we understand we were not alone. The teacher lacked organization and structure; encouraged children to tattle tale; misrepresented situations to manipulate children and parents; was punitive when punishing for minor infractions without investigation and resolution. Learning was minimal and secondary. There was no environment for children to flourish. Our child became unhappy, disinterested in learning, and wanted to avoid school. Despite multiple complaints to the principal from different parents, there was no action, and problem remained. This is not a good experience for any child or parent, and we would not recommend this program. We searched carefully for a school and a program, and, we wish, there was more truthful feedback posted from others.

I have a child in the new Mandarin Immersion program and a child in the Gifted Magnet, both at Braddock. It's only been about 1 month, but I'm overall happy with our decision to be at this school. The positives: very involved parents, especially in the MI program. amazing teachers in both programs. the Principal is easy to talk to. It's rare to have a Mandarin Immersion program, and it's also rare to have a public school gifted program--and Braddock has BOTH!The drawbacks: it's LAUSD and a Title 1 school, so there are no resources for in-school enrichment programs and campus improvement. However, the parents have improved the school dramatically over the past month. I expect that it will continue to improve. No school is perfect, but I think this is a great school overall.

My daughter is currently in the Mandarin kindergarten program. I'm so impressed with what she has learned already in such a short amount of time! She's excelling in both languages. She used to be annoyed when I would ask her to speak Chinese and now she will sing and speak Chinese on her own! The principal is amazing and so accomodating to parents and new ideas. We live in a 10/10 school district but drive to this school and are so happy about it! For us I feel there is no greater gift to give your child a chance to learn and love another culture and language. It's really a gift for life! Also the parents and teachers in this program are awesome!!

My son is in the new Mandarin Immersion program and he absolutely loves it. The teachers, the administrators, the principals, the parents - everyone has been incredible. Principal Lopez is a very supportive and nurturing person who loves children and she is very receptive to feedback from parents. The teachers are just fantastic - Ms. Durand and Zhang Lao Shi are both loved by all of the students. I had the opportunity to visit my son's classroom one morning and was astounded by the students' cooperativeness! Lastly, the parents have been amazing - everyone I've met has made a positive contribution in some way. We're taking strides towards beautifying and greening the campus, and just started a valet drop-off program in the mornings. This is just a terrific place, and I am very grateful for this school!

The Gifted Magnet is excellent (the low rate is for the regular school), kids are challenged at this school.

Former student here. All I remember from this school were wonderful memories. At the time I was thinking beyond the unimaginable. I wanted to become a astronaut, or an archeologist. There is one teacher that I will never forget that encourage my love for dinosaurs and art. I love this school best years of my young life.

This is a gem of a school. A caring and dedicated faculty, collaborative and responsive principal, generous and supportive parents and bright eager children. A California Distinguished School, this school has been achieving growth targets over time and across the demographic groups. I would recommend Braddock to any parent looking for a safe and effective local school. I feel more parent involvement would add much to the environment.
